Default Pictures of the damage to the garage roof

lucky the garage door held up really

this is how it was when starting - all very nice and good

and as seen here, supports the weight of the engine on its own no problem at all

then when refitting everything and lifting and supporting the engine and gearbox, the support beam collapses bringing with it long time lovely plasterboard and black lime, a striplamp tube into my engine bay

Quick fix with cable ties late last night (circa midnightish) so i could close the garage door

How many tims of WD40? - must of been a catering pack

luckily the only damage to the car is a couple if minor scratches on the wings which may polish out, may not

it's amazing the engine came out the wrong way around, AND with the strut brace still on

looks like you were lucky though

That joist looks well too thin to be supporting an engine!
Guess you know that now though

that picture with the engine out was taken after i spun it round and put the brace on as a resting beam to take the weight while i pulled the flywheel off etc

i've had engines swinging from the rafters before now with no problems - looks like i'm gonna have to get that metalfram welded up and put in asap

yep, took it out to do that as there was a few other little jobs that needed addressing aswell and it was easier to whip the engine out rather than struggle on my own attempting to remove the gearbox
