Default FAO all ERST drivers (S1 & S2)

How do you treat your cars??

Is it driven everyday as a workhorse and just generally maintained or is it pampered to a carpeted and heated garage and only brought out if it's guarenteed not to rain??

You see, the fiesta is starting to do my tits in so I may be on the hunt for another ERST. I was just wondering if one would stand up to a 50 mile round trip to work everyday and then being used at nighttime???

my old RS turbo, and my old cossie were used to do 70plus miles a day, motorway and central london driving and both never skipped a beat really, (general maintance and higher running costs for the cossie tho, ) but i did think that the heavy motorway driving in all onditions wasnt doing the paintwork the too much good tho,

Mine spends Monday - Friday in a central heated garage with the cover on, and if the weather is shit at the weekends... it stays in there all week :bufty:

Since I had the engine rebuild I try not to drive it in the wet or let it stand out in the rain if I can help it. Hopefully this will add quite a few years to the cars life

I use mine to get to and from work, only a short trip but I don't rag it there and back and always let it warm up first.

On my 4 days off I hardly use it, but again always let it warm up before using it, I think thats the key to a happier engine

I really want a series 1 but I am worried that weathering will just rot it to death within 6 months. Then again.................... a bag full of underseal

I use mine everyday,,,,,although shes not a horse

Although I do leave her outside some evenings, she still has her own little bedroom with carpet on the floor and walls, shes got some pictures and banners to keep her company,,,oh even got a few teddies in the garage (run outta room in my bedroom,,pmsl)!!

I use her all the time,,,,but she still gets pampered!!

I use my F plate S2 everyday and she's done 147k on original engine. It's not chipped and i don't rag it too often, but it lives in the driveway unprotected so it needs a good regular polish

And as Wes said i always let it heat up and cool down which i think helps the life of your engine

Every day - loads of miles.

At the mo, im driving a 22 yr old Y reg mk 3.

It's not a turbo - it's got a na 1.8 cvh in it.

Dad owned it since new, and as a mechanic rust proofed it. It's been to France, germany, Poland, austria, italy etc etc. It's the most reliable car ever - a real work horse - does 50 mile round trip on m60 to work.

Whats wrong with Fiesta?

Dont own one now but used to have a 90 G. Bought it with 35K on the clock for Ł3500 (from ford garage). It lived outside on the drive and was used every day and night. Standard engine with the usual stainless exh, K&N, collins actuator. just kept it clean and washed the salt from under the wheel arches in the winter. Fresh oil & filter every 3K. Never gave a problem and i sold it with 148K on the clock. But you allways get good and bad ones its just luck which one you end up with.

happy hunting and good luck.

i used to own a escort cab with turbo engine and drove it everyday for 3 years. cleaned it regularly and polished. Never had a prob with the body.

Altho i did go through a couple of engines cos i got a very heavy right foot sold it when it had a new engine, roof, suspension, etc. the buyer got a proper bargain - its somewhere in cornwall now.

Mine will be on a classic policy and on a max of 6000 miles a year. After spending a shit load on it it won't be used in the wet and will sit on the drive covered up most of the week.

We do have CCTV on the house, but it's no replacement for a garage

kevsrs, lmfao @your sig!..how funny is that!

i use my rs everyday!

do around 300/400 miles per week!..often at full chat...she's tuned and costs me a bomb!

always replacing parts, tuning parts, ragging the shite out of parts!....but have never really let me down!....also costs me a fortune at shell! ...

it sits outside (no garage) and has to bare the elements! ...but its fine!
