Default Stripping a S2 gear box

i have a growling noise coming from wot we think is the box! not sure whether its diff or box! either way it's gotta come to bit's taking the box to bit's isnt a problem but unsure on the diff ( think they have to be set up? ) any idea how much or if you can get an exchange on a recon box!

What tends to happen on those B5 boxes is the mainshaft end bearing goes and chews up the main shaft and the casing with it.

Standard bearing doesn't have an inner race and the rollers run on the mainshaft

You can get them modified to take a stronger bearing these days

When I had my S2 RST the 'box failed about 6 times within 2 years, always the same thing
