Default RS dump valve/driver seat and so on . . .

Hi all,

Complete Noobie to the RS scene here . . . First off, I love my car to bits (#357) having drooled over Escort RS Turbos as a teenager I've finally got the equivalent - wow! But a couple of questions, mine is about to drop out of manufacturers warranty and has the dreaded sagging drivers seat. Please could you post me a good quality picture of the revised stitching on the seat squab so I can show my local upholsterer?

And further still, I like the idea of Bailey's (sic) latest double-trumpet dump valve, but what benefit would this give my (at the moment) standard RS lump? I thought the idea was to keep the energy within the engine, rather than blow it off through a dump valve?

And does anyone know of an RS specialist in the North-East?

Thanks for your help.

Tobes

Just a quick word on the seats. The warranty upgrade wasn't just the actual cover, it was a complete revised base, shaped with the extra groove and had extra fixing's to keep the material toooight. May be worth modifying the base's too if it's possible.

Dump valve will give no benefit at all. However due to the type of turbo used on the FRS you should not remove the factory fitted recirc valve. Only plus side of fitting a Bailey DV is that it will prob last longer than the factory item

My boyfrind got both front seats replace paid for by fords
and I got him a baily twin piston dump valve for xmas last year, it sounds great and prolongs the life of the turbo (or is ment to)!

That's just marketing bollocks but the FRS does require a DV to prevent damage. This is why they don't chatter like a Cossie or FRST

you would be buying a new one at some point. dont think the turbo is up to it, and its a new car with new ecus, its not an ERST/FRST, its new and it doesnt like it.

If you want Chatter Sound(Stalling of the Blades) on the FRS then you need the GGR dump valve which has the K&N fliter built in...
But DV just make the car drink the petrol more and you loose a few BHP too take it to a dyno and try with the DV or then with the Re-Circ..

GGR Dump valve are crap... I had one on my car for about an hour the f___king thing would stop stalling. Put the baileys one on and everything is fine again well apart frm the over fueling and using shit loads of petrol

The stalling issue is only with some cars, its pot luck if your car does stall with an atmospheric dump valve on

if you are nice to the dealer about the seats, ford will go 50/50 on the cost of it with you.

It's worth doing if you can at least get them to pay half. When the original ones start to sag they look gash, I got mine done when I first got the car, as after 11k they had already sagged.

The whole strip of material with no line looks shonky, at least the line has added another contour to the seat, looks 100% better imo.
