Well the engine will be out in the next few days (S2 CVH)

What shall I replace to make sure it lives longer? I dont think I am gonna go as far as a full rebuild but all gaskets etc will be changed while it is out but what else shall I do while the engine is out?

What is worth replacing that may give me trouble in the future?

Rings, water pump, oil pump, gaskets.
Depends on how much you want to spend and what condition its in really.

and if you do the water pump its worth doing the cam belt aswell mate.

 

Was gonna do the cam belt anyway but I might as well do those while it is off

How big a job is it to do the rings?

 

id do as much as u can afford while its out, (saying that though cvh comes out in a couple of hours!)

check all the core plugs aswell, new sump.

err.. the whole fooking engine!

 

problem is doing rings

is the crank could need grinding aswell

so thats new bearings and a grind

then you mite aswell put oil pump on

then if you want new pistons

its all up to you mate
