Oily Turbo.....help needed

Default Oily Turbo.....help needed

An understatment , took my old turbo off today to put my new one on due to it being a bit smoky....... To find HALF A LITRE yes HALF A LITRE!!! In the bottom hose from metering head to turbo and all the other hoses are soaked with oil, is there anything i should check before i run this new turbo? Cheers pete. PS its series 2 running gear and std T3

the oil must have seaped through the seals and got into the pipes.

Was it not smoking when running.

Yeah, but not to the extent i though it would have, i did an oil change a few days before and the oil is just under maximum now so its been seeping for a while before the change, is there anything to check before the new turbo is fired up?

Think it was the turbo that was fooked that was putting the oil in the pipes.

One thing though,make sure you prime the oil pipe before starting it up,have heard this has to be done.

Not sure how to do it though.

Remove coil lead and wind over for 5 seconds....


Just dont want this one to go pop as it cost me loads of money..... £100

I was taking the piss lol, yeah, its a good one, bought it from a good mate, was only used 2 times to run his 300bhp series 2 in at 10psi

Sounds like you may of overfilled the oil maybe? or turbo seals are just fucked

remeber when priming new turbo aswell as disco'ing the coil, hold the shaft of the turbo with long nose mole grips so it wont turn at all

the pistons will still force some air through the exhaust valves (compression )
