Series 1 Resto **update 23/12/05 - shell in primer!!
Got this a little while ago, but thought i would post a couple of pics up.
Got a decent set of wheels from souhtend last night (thanks larry
)
As it sat (the other cars a little faster than the s1
)

And with the new wheels

Little mini resto over the winter. I've vowed to use other people for every aspect of getting this serie 1 up and running perfect, as it seems you cant get sod all done, even if you pay up front

Adam, yeah, got sooo pissed off waitin for stuff, it unbelieveable,
Its one of these common scenarios, if you pay up front or as soon as stuffs done, you get shit service........ even if you help said people out savin them money
Waited for the ecu, the brakes countless times
The engine for its been down the builders for 13months, the bumpers and other odds and sods have been at the painters for nearly 15months, same shit different day, you get fobbed off why there not ready, cant do it blaaaah blaaaahh best excuses are "well your cars not ready, so you dont need them"
End of the day, you cant keep your enthusiasm if you cant get anything done.
Im using totally different people for every aspect of the S1, different tuning company, different painter, powdercoater, suppliers, some of the best suppliers are on e-bay, at least they care about their reputation
Only people who have done a spot on job, on time was the re-trimmer Goldsmiths

Ok, so the s1 is now nearly stripped apart from the glass, goes in for a full paint (inside and out) new bonnet, 2 rear arches, front and rear bumpers. New grille aquired off e-bay

and the inside - the boot floor, and most of the rear is good, just the battery tray and one small bit at the front to weld up myself (yes, i am going to try and do it myself
)

i dont know much history about the car, apart from it was used on the track at one point. Which is probably why the rear turrets, all inside the car, and engine bay has all the panel joins welded up
Spent the last 2 nights with a wire wheel cleaning down all the boot, tis hard work, and messy

Obviously im keepin most of the outside as ford intended, white half cage going in, interiors being retrimmed dark grey leather / light grey alacantara, engine spec is unknown as yet, but i have a feeling its gonna be the 2 litre that was destined for the cabrio
Best bit about the car - front AP 4 pots and discs! One thing i aint gotta worry about ordering

God, never had a project move so quickly
Cars been picked up, decided to strip all the loom out, and now is literally a rolling shell

And down at the painters, just got the glass out

So stripped down, and at the paintshop in 6 days, a record for me
hopefully go back together just as quick

Dependin on selling the bits off the cabrio, goin for a two tone grey leather/alacantra interior, rollcage, 4 point harnesses, totally original on the outside bar the wheels.
Not sure on the engine yet, not really sure on much to be honest, just goin with the flow
