I bought myself a PCI sata card and a 200gb hard disc for my little w2k box that acts as a storage machine.
Anyhoo, all parts in, drivers installed. no conflicts. Lovley stuff....
I cant seem to get windows to see the disk.
I cant seem to get passed this stage in disk managment:

That's because there is no partition on the drive, and it's not been formatted. To do this, right click on the drive, and it should say "create partition", it will ask you what file system you want on it, (fat, fat32 ntfs etc, etc) and then the size of the disk you want to use. Once that's done, right click the drive again and choose format, again it will ask you about the file system and then the size of the disk you want to format. Should take no longer then 30 misn or so to do it
When i built my new pc with an sata drive when i tried to install xp it couldn't see any drive. I had to take the sata driver off the mobo cd and use that for xp to see the sata drive. Dunno if this is relevant in your case though

SATA drives are supposed to have a quicker transfer rate then IDE, and using a sata drive free's up your IDE channels on your board, as standard, your limited to 4 ide devices, my work one for instance has 2 hard drives, and 2 cd drives, my home system has 5 hard drives and 2 cd drives as I have a maxtor PCI IDE controller, which has 2 channels on it, allowing another 4 drives if need be
