Engine/ car wiring, SECS or anyone...
Ok i got a 3-door, its a 1.6gl at the mo.
ive completely ripped out the interior and dash etc so im looking at the wiring now.
im going to be using a 2.0l zetec turbo engine in the car and 3-door running gear
do i keep the standard 3-door loom for all the car workings ie ignition, lights, heater, dials etc and then wire up the engine stuff seperate.
ill be using a SECS S8 and its gonna be EFI.
any input on this would be appreciated.
cheers

i was gonna try and get some 3-door clocks, do you know if it will just plug in to the existing loom plugs and i will need to wire up the rev counter.
cheers mate, thats made it a bit easier lol

Doubt it, the 1.6 GL may not have the ECU light etc on its loom?
On my car its the complete cossie car loom, do you not have that from your cossie 3 door donor?
Would certainly be the easiest way of doing it if you are using the cossie clocks etc as you will know it is all compatable that way.

Obvioulsy not especially relevant to someone who has an SECS ecu though like Dan, as that makes more use of the ECU light than the original ecu does, not less.

Take it this uses the same pin as the 3door loom ?
Why anyone would use a 3door loom is beyond me btw.

Agree on not using the 3 door loom though if its for a track orientated car, not the best solution really with all that crap under the dash for warning bulbs etc, id sooner just knock up a basic loom myself or use a commercially available basic kitcar style loom for the lights etc if i was building the sort of thing Dan is.

Doesnt have to be the standard ecu light though, any old light moutned whereever you want will do providing you can see it.
