Default alternator light

I've tightend the alternator belt to stop it squeaking but now the battery warning light stays on and flickers slightly. I've checked it all over and it is connected properly, no melted wires etc, it all looks fine. Has my alternator died on me? Anyone else had this before, any help much appreciated. Cheers, Dave.

Checked that one again mate, still no luck. Cleaned it and it's connected well. If it is the alternator im surprised the battery hasn't gone flat yet,. The light is dim at idal then brightens on reving it. Doesn't make sense to me, all I did was tighten the belt.

On my old s2 the battery warning light lit up like you say but never drained the battery, pretty sure it ended up being the single wire at the alt.

You might have tighten the belt too much if you have it will fuck the bearing's you should have about half an inch to an inch give in the belt. The alternator still may be fucked even if that battery is not flat just means you have a good battery or the alternator is still puting a bit of a charge into it.

Cheers for the replies, will check it all once more and if no luck I,ll try another alernator to find out. Could of been too tight cuz it wasn't major loose to start with but it was making a right noise.
