when i stripped and rebuilt my engine i never touched the head only to clean it up. its a high spec head and was running fine now it has got a clicking noise from one of the followers. when the engine is a bit warm on tick over it goes away but when you drive it it starts again its only one.

sounds like a tappet mate maybe the oil hole in the lifter is blocked im just gussing though Ray

 

yep,that definitly sounds as tho the tappet is not compressing and circulating the oil properly dont worry it does happen!

 

You can compress the tappets in a vice to clear all the old out of them. This happened to mine. Did this and the problem went away.

 

yeah do this if your a cheap skate! if not go and buy some new ones and do the job properly!
