Default Dull red paint on mk4 escorts...

Hi love this site!
Just a quick question really.
When mk4 escorts or mk2 orions go that really nasty dull red (rossie or rosso red?) will they never shine again with any decent polish etc or will they just go dull again? Can anyone recommend any polish or anything?
Cheers!

take it to a garage and get it mopped, better than t cut and lasts longer but will eventually go "pink" again.
Polished my missis one nearly every weekend and that was ok

definatly get it mopped yeh , but take it to a valet place as they do a better job than most body shops/garages

when you get it mopped , polish it every 2 weeks and it will look good for ages!!

Most paint shops have them. my wife had a XR3i that had to be mopped a couple of times a year.
so i bought one. expensive things. mine cost Ł300

Surely mopping is just polishing off another layer of paint similar to tcut?, or am I missing something?

yes but t-cut is pretty crap , when you mop you put an even amout of pressure on the car so you dont get ant smears!

but yeh mopping takes a layer of paint off , anyone doing it be carefull on edges

Mopping just cuts a layer of dead paint off , but with old paint it will just go dull again , easier to respray if you want a lasting finish. Must paint whole car otherwise the old red will go metameric under street lighting.

You must have more UV in the UK then as my Rosso Red Ford is still looking ok with the original paint.

Mopping works wonders. I did my car 3 years ago with my big girthy 800w buffer. It's been standing outside for 18 months, never been washed, and it still shine's its arse off.

Here it is last week, about to drop the bottom end in.
