Default 12 mile Morecombe to Cumbria bridge - Why bother ?

As

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/l...re/3848463.stm

I used to live in Cumbria and really have to question the need for a hugely expensive 12 mile long bridge to Barrow in Furness FFS !
Think they could spend the billions of cash on something better than making the Lake Disctrict an hour quicker to get to.

A good point Stu - but they could just give you at least one of the millions of £££s it would take to build instead

12mile bridge to the middle of fookin nowhere! They wont even splash out on a couple mile long tunnel to avoid the biggest accident blackspot and the only piece of single carridgeway on the gloucester-swindon-london road round here.

I reallly want a long duelcarridgeway tunnel too, car will sound ace

I think Stu is right as I live in Barrow just think of the money I could save on petrol and spend it on the car rather than drive all the way round the sodding A590, and you hit the nail right on the head Itsmeagain we are right in the middle of no fookin where wanting to get out quicker rather than traveling along that fookin A590 that has more accidents than vanessa felts (bad spelling) has hot dinners

Think the tourism thing is a bit weak though, as I would think most people head for the central lakes like, Windermere, Ullswater, and Keswick. And access off the M6 via Kendal or Penrith aint that bad surely.

If the bridge was built it would mean that people could easily visit the bus depot in Barrow-in-Furness - made famous by the unusual gastronomical habits of the godzilla like monster in that old Chewits TV advert.

Cheers mate, its a 1800 zetec, with kent cams, power boost valve, k&N, magnex exhaust, and I got kenny to sort it out for me at motorsport developments as head gasket went got put back together (by roosecoat service center barrow) and ran like shit so took it to MSD and they got it running like a dream (mass air flow sensor got fooked and cams out) so going back to get it mapped on 19th July
As for Legionnaires mate forgot about that , didnt see you though should have flashed or beeped me mate

- i work in morecambe and personally think it would be a good idea but the cost kinda offsets the benefits - it'll be costing us in taxes for the next 10yrs!

anyways, i've noticed that there are lots of morecambe/barrow dwellers here and wondered if you're part of the Morecambe Car Club -
http://www.morecambecarclub.co.uk

used to have a lovely orion 1600e which i think a guy off here bought - hope she is running well mate!

I think with this bridge it is designed to pay for itself as they are having some sort of enery powered system that is run by the tide on the bridge thats how they are justifing it.
As for the morecambe car club never heard of it mate sorry but will check out the link

That's it innit mate, theres no decent garages round this area that I would trust with anything other than minor repairs for MOT etc

I was passenger in my mates Clio Cup so couldn't really flash you or whatever LOL Don't have my Cossie anymore either as of about a month ago so if someone in a Shitroen Volcane TD flashed/beeped ya you'd have wondered who the fuck it was

But yeh your right about the lack of decent garages as I was without my car for a couple of months because roosecoat decided to play football with my mass air flow sensor and re fit it but I couldnt prove that of course the Bstards

Just glad MSD sorted it out for me as I would have been fooked because the car just ran like shite
