Default WORD OF WARNING - BEER IS BAD FOR YOUR ENGINE!!!!!!!!

As above .................. well not exactly just a tip for future reference if you are building up your latest pride and joys engine dont do it with a case of beer

As i have just built my self a 2.1, having just fitted it to the car and getting it running all be it a little smokey i desided to start to clean up the garage of all the left over shite only to find a set of oil scrapper/control rings off piston no. 2 tucked away in a bag in the corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also now having run the engine up to temperture the head gasket is usless and could not be re-used so that one scrap fel-pro gasket in the bin ............................ Oh yeah and another good one to point out if you fancy having a go at cleaning up the head dont for get to remove the valve stem seals before filling the head up with nitro-morse they go a stringy if left for too long (looked a bit like black chewing gum)

So in short steer clear of the CARLING if your going to be touching some spanners 'n' greasy bits

out of curiousity what head gasket would you have used i know that i can use the rs focus one but the head requires welding up in 4 places, or is this my only alternative???

But on the other hand we know someone who lives in the states and them gaskets are available off the shelf at the cost of £8 not bad considering burton want £38 for the same thing and that dont inc. delivery either

it still only takes 3 to 5 days for the delivery from the states!!!!!

(about the same as burton also )

did a cracking job the insides come up almost as good as the out side nearly as the oil eats into the alloy and you cant shift it but still clean none the less and as i said take the oil seals out as they make a right mess if you dont just use a 1/2" brush to get into the ports to takes the coke out no problems
besides you can get nitromorse from asda like i did the last time i went shoppin
