Default Can you adjust the clutch cable S2?

Guess i should know this but is it possible to adjust the clutch
cable on a series 2?

Having a bit of trouble selecting gear since the engine has gone back in.
The clutch pedal has to be pushed right to the very bottom to be able to get gears, even then some times it wont select.

Ive also fitted a B+M shifter, could this be anything to do with the problem?

Also does it matter which hole the cable is put through on the gear box
before it hooks onto the black arm?

Cheers

there is no adjustment, is a rachett system on the pedal, it should adjust up on its own, could be fooked though!

didnt think it make much difference on the hole thing, as ive used both

Tried a new clutch cable?

my mate had a similar problem, and it was the release bearing not installed properly, or i think he may of bent it when putting the engine back in

Check that the ratchet actually works and the pedal is pulling the cable from the very first milimeters of pedal movement.

You can get bigger size wheels for the ratchet to give more travel. They are colour coded.

You must use the correct hole for the cable depending on if oyu have the short or long arm fitted. AFAIK, only mk3s used a short one. The short one will gove more travel though.

If you have a AP-clutch or other heavy duty organic, then at least AP advises to fit the later escort pedal completely to avoid these problems.

i have about at least a inch of travel on the pedal before the cable starts to move,i also have a Helix paddle clutch,so it sounds like i may need
the later escort pedal, does anyone know whats involved in doing this?

After recently having my engine rebuilt then reinstalled with a 6 paddle clutch I had a nightmare trying to change gear also.
To sort the problem my ratchet was replaced with an escort mark 5 fitting.
This web address should help if this is the case:

Cheers

There is a conversion that can be done that allows you to adjust it. I personally dont know how its done but my tuner does it and everyones thats had it done so far have said its great.

I too have just fitted the post 95 clutch pedal to my s2 this week just dont forget to cut the last 10 teeth off the ratchet otherwise you will have to do the job twice
The pedal travel is smooth and light with the ability too adjust the pedal travel from inside the car with a 6mm allen key which is a nice touch
