Default Can a Focus RS be live mapped? ....... Stu / anyone?

As the question really, has anyone had one live mapped or does anyone know if they can be live mapped ....Stu etc ???

I know you can buy the bluefin for them and thats quite good increase. But i understand the bluefin doesnt increase the boost or if it does its only 1-2 psi

So was wondering if the Focus RS can be live mapped for more gains i.e if you had a de-cat pipe, tubular manifold fitted etc. Also if the boost could be upped any more than what increases you get with Bluefin, if the problem of higher charge air temps could be tackled with a bigger Pre rad for the charge cooler system.

Cheers for info

trying to decide m8. Looking into the best way to keep Chells and Tony's RST behind me Think with 320bhp on tap in a FRS it would just about do the trick

Benn, dont have to worry about Chells RST, cos we not going to see it on the road for another 2-3 years, and by then you wont be able to afford the Ł1.50 per litre fuel will prob be by then

Alex, "if" i buy one it would have to have the tublar manifold, like you say it SHOULD have had one from the start.

Damo I wanted to know if they can be live mapped on their std ecu, save spending Ł2K on ECU and Loom

Stu i read you have already written a chip for a customers FocusRS What sort of gains can be found with the Focus RS engine in a std configuration? and what gains with things like the tublar manifold, De-cat + mongoose etc? Also i read that the Std turbo is limited by a full boost of 1bar, is that true?

Cheers for any info

pop up to essex and i will take u for a spin in mine

would like to see how a live map is compared to bluefin bet its alot smoother as tailored

cant imagine a basic chip remap would give loads more but may deliver better and drive smoother

ps mongoose arent great on the FRS go for a Miltek or if ur feeling rich a primary designs

manifolds are plenty to choose from the ford motorsport one which cracks is the cheapest but does crack

K&N has been known to give upto 10bhp so I read Im fitting mine friday

Andy

no worries Ive only got Bluefin which is a must and K&N coming and will be Miltek'ing soon but been put of the Ford Manifold as read a case of em cracking

but with decat, zorst, filter, manifold and chip u should get 260-270bhp which keeps it reliable it then starts to cost money stage 1 turbo air to air cooler Clive aka Got1-2 has nigh on 400bhp and Nimmy is gonna have mental power

ps if ur looking theres plenty to check

management system versions AE (boggy first gear) (AF crap starting)
seat bases (mine is a 53 doesnt have revised seat base but hasnt saged ) the stiching update looks horrid
other revisions (pink thing under bonnet) and i forgot the rest
boot rattles (gaffer tape fixes it )
bad paint on rear quarters
coolent leaks
batteries running flat cos of alarm
tyres no longer avalible ie make sure they match
no fuel pumps anywhere
bonnet glue coming away under heat from skeleton
knocky shocks (few cases not many)
er

bar that there a great car

I have the Ford motorsport manifold and have never heard any problems with it cracking, with it being mild steal instead of stainless it's less likely to crack if anything.

I have the below mods (see sig) and it goes like absolute stink it comparison to standard. According to Rob@SCC there's no performance gains in live mapping/different Bluefin map untill you change the OE turbo. Just make sure you get the de-cat file version as it keeps the engine light off, de-cat is a must. One with my mods apart from K&N has been rr'd at 290BHP, seems alot to me but I would expect 280BHP. Pro-alloy charge cooler next.

Cheers Kev & Nath, a big help both of you.

Kev its good to have an idea of what bits are common faults so that will come in handy

Nath how do you get hold of a Ford motorsport manifold then m8? Are they readly forsale somewhere Your De-cat is it a full mongoose inc a d-cat pipe? and ther bluefin can reprogram the ecu to turn the light off when de-catted?

Kev, I read someone thinking a ford manifold cracked during testing, on't really know what truth there was in it though, also there's a good 10-20 people I know of with them with no probs.

Andy, look on ffoc.co.uk FRS forum, there's a German fella on there selling them (Guido of Ellmer motorsport) as Kev said, genuine Ford, even have the stamp on.

Milket system is nowaday the one to go for supposedly. Can't see there being a great deal of difference between them so won't be changing.
