i've got a Corsa 1.4 SRI
its my sixth one in 3 years lol and its shite and it costs me loads too! the fuel is a bargin though and the only reason i've kept the company crap sorry car
I find it hard to see how Private Fuel is such a bargain now, especially in a 1.4.
The BiK charge on fuel is £14,400 x the tax rate from the car's CO2 x your highest tax rate.
So if the Corsa 1.4 is taxed at 17%, your free fuel costs:
£14,400 x 17% = £2448 x your tax, say £538 @ 22% or £979 at 40%.
With fuel at 80p/litre and combined mpg at 39mpg, you have to drive 5764 miles or 10489 to break even. And that is for an economical car with low BiK.
I've had all sorts since moving into the fleet market in 1995, and get a new Vectra Elite 3.0 CDTi Estate on 1/8. Currently in a Vectra 2.2 DTi SRi, same before that, Mondeo TDCi, Alfa 147, 2 Volvo S60s, 7 Omegas incl 2.5s and a 3.0, a Vectra 2.0 SRi, Passat estate, Calibra 16v, Cavalier 2.0 CDX, Cavalier 2.5 GLS, and loads before that.
Best of them all were the Volvos.

I've got a Audi S3 but need to change it soon.
On our car list, there are cars like Mazda RX8, Audi and BMW Cabriolets, etc, but you have to pay extra dosh for them.
Only problem is the company car tax and fuel tax stitch-up. That really hacks me off!!

i also drive around 14000 personal miles a year and use optimax, you redo the math with these figures and its a bargin
okay i'll redo coz i'm bored lol
fuel 84.9 with average 30 mpg means to break even i need to do 3730 miles
I have quite a few diferent company cars, used to work for Volvo and the best one there was probably the s60r. But had loads of t4's, t5's 2.4/2.5 t's.
Left there and I now have a hynduai Getz
Which goes in 6 months to make way for a 325 ci coupe

I gave up my card because the numbers just couldn't stack up for me - admittedly in a more expensive car, at a higher CO2 % and 40% tax.
Pal of mine has just bought out his Audi A6 4.2 Quattro estate - 35% tax on £42k car AND £14.4K fuel - the only thing he saved on before was his private fuel!
