basicaly you are only switching the live feed to the fans, the ground on the relay is picked up at the nearest point to the relay. The grond to the fans is as normal, or run direct from the batt

Well sounds like ya have it wired correctly, checked the fuses? Relay internally fused?

Do the fans work if you supply them direct from battery?
Does the relay click when switch is thrown?

edit: thermostat aint still in circuit is it

what is used as the trigger? the way i'd do it is to find which wire is the output from the fan switch in the rad, cut this wire and redirect it to the trigger input of the relay, also if you want an overide switch to turn on when you like run a 30a feed through a switch on the dash? and to the same input as the trigger before, that way you can turn them on when you want but also have the back-up of the fan switch if you forget

What it ment was you can use trigger 86 as a live switch, or you can use ground 85 as a negative trigger as some ecu's use negitive outputs to trigger relays. So if you use a live trigger 86 you need a permanent groundon 85, if you are using a negative output as a trigger on 85 you need a permanent feed on 86
