Default coilovers for 4x4 cossy.....

getting the car "ring prepped" at the moment - whats a good package for coilovers for the cossy?

been thinking Avo or Bilstein

but i've also heard horror stories about the rear strut tops coming thru and destroying the rear of the car

can anyone advise please

i dunno who has had the horror stories happen to them, but i read somewhere online that if the rear springs are too hard, then damage can be caused?

I have coilovers on my car and the handling is OK. It is a bit bouncy on the rebound but I can live with it. One thing to note is I only use it on occasions and I know you use it daily.

Good luck

Fairy nuff mate If your planning more ventures then it may be worth considering as like you said its an upgrade. But just to remember whats good for one may be lethal for someone else. Roads, driving style, etc etc all have an effect on the package your thinking about buying.

i think avos are prone to rusting on the threaded part as for some reason they are not galvanised/treated.

but saying that ill prolly blag a set for the 3 door when its ready as its primarily gonna be a track car, but ill still use it on the roads.

unless i can blag me some spax coil overs

Bilstein were always my favourite but I am not sure what the quality is like these days. Mine were specially built Konis BTW. I got them second hand but I knew their origin

You could just get new shocks and maybe harder springs.

i think peeps only get the coilovers on the saff if they want bigger wheels on as they might scrub the spring cup.

No real problems with mine and don't forget you can alter the height of the car and the stiffness of the shocks so can go hard for the track etc...and then soft for road again.
