I just bought a car - in ten mins Man I love impulse buys

Leave my job in less than 2 weeks, and it suddenly dawned on me today I was being WAAAAAY too picky about buying cars - just realised I only have 2 more days off before I lose my van and have no transport at all

So went and took an ST24 I saw locally for a drive this eve afterwork - what I stinking pile of CRAP it was... horrendous doesn't do it justice....

But while I was out and about I saw a little Mk3 Fiesta for sale (local again) for £695 (1.4 CFi, leccy windows, PAS, MoT/Tax for a few months- pretty clean, tidy car) so thought I'd ring the guy up. Local part time trader type, unfortuantely the car was pretty much bought by someone else so he wasn't gonna do any viewings unless he got let down or something, but said further down the road he also has an L reg Escort saloon (Orion basically) for sale, ready to go.

So I looked at it for 5 mins, drove it for another 5 mins, then knocked him down by £100

1.4 EFi 16v Zetec motor - very blue (blue car, blue dash, blue seats, blue door cards ), 68k (maybe ) but does have leccy windows and power steering - my two criteria for a car

Bargain at £300 Needs wheel bearing doing tho, bit noisey, thinks it's the left rear but not 100%

Think thats the quickest I have ever bought a car

Perhaps it ain't a 1.4 then deffo a 16v twin cam tho, cos I saw the lump and know it ain't no CVH..... Maybe it's 1.6 then?

Nope, deffo a 1.6 and it has NINETY bhp too

Damn right it ain't the most exciting car, but to be honest, I wasn't too fused what I got - only chose this one cos a) it had power steering and leccy windows b) it was local and cheap and c) I just needed a car QUICK, as said, I lose my works van next week so I needed cheap transport pronto

 

Yep - I love runarounds, I never feel right giving my turbo full abuse compared to the daily drivers where it really doesn't matter and they just seem to keep going!

 

Already starting to think about addinf leccy mirrors, heated screen etc in there now Oh and alloys
