hello, just wonderin who's had a md240r from TD?
did you have any problems with it? and why?
just tryin to figure out if my failure is a one off?
it snapped the shaft on a top speed run,
i'm runnin rs500 spec engine, and in region of 470+ bhp,
31 psi peak, and 29psi held.
they have told me its over spun, and are lookin into why? but
Td sed its not down to oil, coolant or egt's.
in the car never had
boost pipe failure, run more boost then TD told me to run,
always run a dump valve.

the Gt Garrett turbos don't seem to be as strong as the normal old school ones
for some reason
it might be surge that has caused the shalft to break because they do suffer from a bit of surge to be honest

marco, mine dont surge at all.
even wen i wired up the wastegate shut. ( checkin lag, as asked to do by TD, as had actuater problem)
mine hit full boost in any gear at just b4 4100 rpm.

If it didnt fail due to oil or coolant problems is it possible that the shaft snapped due to the air rushing back through the turbo when you lift off from full boost? I think i read that Simon @ secs had this problem
I had a bearing failure with mine.Luckily i was just one mile from home when it started to make a noise so i stopped to check it out.TD said it was caused by a poorly manufactured bearing housing and they sent me a brand new turbo FOC which i have now sold.It had done less than 3k miles but mine did suffer from surge. In hindsight i dont think my ports were large enough.

TD are sendin me a replacement 3 of charge,
sed the wastegate pivot shaft had twisted due to much preload, and cause it to over speed,
cant see it my self, if wastegate sticks open, it would not make the boost not over spin.
they have also changed the ex housin to 63, from 57, which should help top end alittle.

well i got the new one,
they fitted a 0.63 xx housin instead of the old 0.57, and a larger comp wheel.
it surges between 3500-4200 rpm over 20psi, and hit full boost 4200-4300 rpm,
i fitted a boost controller to cure the surge, but then the turbo became mega laggy,
and no surge, i mean full boost over 5 k rpm.
i spoke to td, and they sed wired the wastegate shut, it then hit 33 psi at 5000 rpm and held it to 7700 rpm,
which shows the actuator is blowin open, and wastegate leakin.
sent it bact to td, they sed the wastegate started to sieze, and sed they will sort it,
But now i'm to fed up with it,
cos the boost problem we've had with this turbo, (down to the ott back pressure blowin the wastegate open) its wasted 3 mappin sessions, and many hours of testin.
i've decided to get another turbo, most prob a AET turbo, gt30 comp, 0.83 ex housin. and a internal wastegate still. able to run 37 psi boost.
Mark shead of M.A.Devlopments (cheers for advice) sed its the best internal wastegate turbo for my car, and sed he's seen over 510 bhp with this turbo.

a little up date.
TD have offered me 'ne on' a full refund , and my compressor housin (as i've modded for the actuater, and boost pipe connection to get it to miss the bonnet and inner wing.
but still believes there's nothin wrong with the back pressure ( as tom field and other tunest find it good) even tho i, you and 2 other have had the problem.
i have spoke to andy, and grant at AET, and there gonna build up their turbo usin my comp housin, at slightly lower price.
so looks like i'm gettin thier after over a year of hassle, and alot of cost.
