Any decent motorfactor or spares shop should be able to match the size of an S2 'stat with one of a lower temperature.

If you get really stuck, PM me and I will sort out some part numbers.

Fuck sake you lot. How many more times are we gonna do this.

My auction starts at 99p. I would sell one for a total of Ł10 posted, just as I do on here. If people want to pay more, thats up to them. Perhaps they see it as worth the money, who knows.

Anyway, Tim. If you can't be arsed to go out and get one, I will send you one for a Tenner.

I think thats a fair price as I have to get in my car, go and get it, and get it posted to. I would like to pretend we do it for love, but thats not the case.

chrisitan whats why ya getting the hump

dont think it was reference to the auction, maybe the price of posting it out but not the auction

i personally cant stand when i pay 10 quid postage and the item gets sent second class for 1.88 and placed in a second hand jiffy bag,,,,,,,, or ya buy 5 items from a seller and pay all the postage and they just chuck it in one box anyway

good luck to you selling for a profit ,,,,,,,, some people are just silly for not learning about what there buying

mind the statment that the ford ones dont fit is just bollox but ya get ya cash either way

So, can you honestly say that you dont sell any parts, say conversion plates etc, that you make MASSIVE profit on? I mean, once you have a pattern for something like that, a machine shop can make them for next to nothing.

The postage is how it is because that way I can start the auction at 99p. If I have to sell one for a couple of quid then its not the end of the world and then I only pay 30p to set the auction up.

Also, for the record, the items get sent First Class Recorded and well packaged in a Brand New jiffy bag, not some old second-hand half torn envelope.

The people that charge ONLY what the Post Office charge them to post stuff are fools IMO. You have to account for the Packaging and the fact that you have to physically go to the Post Office. As I said earlier, I don't do it for love.

Also, in any case, at least they are all 100% Genuine auctions. I bet most of you on here who use Ebay falsely bid each others stuff up. The Thermostats sell for what they do without my influence.

Well said Christian

I hate it when people moan like fuck about stuff like that. I have had a few items in the past go for stupidly high prices, totally not reflecting their true worth (ie, cheaper to buy new). But, theere are people who don't care, and if the item is worth that to them, they pay it. Fair's fair.

Postage, bastards who just look at the postage stamp/ticket and see Ł1.88 and then get fucked off because they paid Ł5 for it. As Christian says, consider fuel to get the item to the PO, packaging costs (Padded envelope, bubble wrap, tape, address labels) and time also.

With 99p start auctions, for the one item you make Ł10 on, great!!! because there are plenty more that will end without covering your costs

Pisses me off this country it really does... and its one of the reasons im thinking of dropping the whole Ford scene totally as people are always penny pinching nowadays...

If someone you dont know said to you on teh phone:
Please go to teh shop and buy me a thermostat
Please go to teh stationers and buy a new jiffy bag.
Please wrap thermostat up in buble wrap and then secure it in teh jiffy bag.
Please carefully label the jiffy bag with my address.
Please get in your car and drive to teh post office.
Please Que up with the pensioners and send it to me 1st class recorded. (so fill teh tags in too please.)
Please drive home, using your own fuel and time again.

And then had the cheek to ask you to do it all for FUCK ALL, not even offering fuel money, would you:
1) Hang up after a few choice words.
or
2) Say "No problems pal, il do it right away matey"

We all know the fooking answer to that dont we?
So why moan when others are doing precisely what you yourselves would do?

Really gets my goat it does....

And the Thermostat from Mr C is PROVEN to fit a RST thermostat housing. How many people will buy one thats from a different model and find it dont fit in the housing properly.

Stu - not too sure what the rant was all about I don't think anyone was saying a good service isn't worth paying for and not too sure whether the comment was aimed at me being the first post starter

As an experienced ebayer, I think the general concensus is that you charge for the stamp, and the package. In this case this would be 39p for a padded envelope (going by my P.O.) and a 50p approx stamp! If you are selling something, it is assumed you go to the trouble of stopping at the P.O. yourself! The reason being, that its a private sale, and you want to sell your (spare) item! Otherwise, if you re-saling items for a profit, you'd be a business, and would presumably be VAT registered- in which case OK, charge what you want! As someone already said, there is nothing worse than paying through the snotter for a postal service, supposedly recorded frst class, and then having the item turn up wrapped in used tissue in a brown envelope- and any ebayer will tell that this has happened! For every one honest chap, there is 5 con artists on ebay, hoping to scam on many things, postage being one!

But that don't matter really, we were only poking gentle fun at C! (well I was!)

You sound thoroughly deflated mate- no offence intended!

Dude, when buying a one off item that has been custom made for fittment you would expect to pay the asking price.

In the example you picked, the cost for the item is high due to the amount of work involved in making them. Three different machines are used = three different operators. Also two different machine shops. + costs of material + transit/postage + the 2 FREE gaskets i supply which cost me Ł3.70! as you can see the final profit left from the Ł75 i ask for them is not as much as you make out to be!
This aint about the plates anyway

However your statment does sound like YOU do make a MASSIVE profit from the sale of the Thermostats on Ebay. Well done for finding a good seller and no disrespect to you. It is bussiness at the end of the day.

stu thats totally wrong ,,,,,,,,,,,,does that mean i can charge for my pen ink and envelope for sending the cheque to the seller

when you put a item for sale, thats what you are doing and doing it with the understanding of it !!!

postage and packing should be just that !!!!

just cause you decided that the post office is too far to walk so ya charter a private jet dont have anything to do with the person buying a thermostat

its put there to make extra cash end of storey, its also quite well known that people dont charge there work for travel expenses to come to work as when they accept the job thats what they are doing in that !!!

also not stating what the thermostat is in my eyes is technically ripping someone off , hes stating its not the normal ill fitting part thats usually sold,,,,,,,,,, sorry but its a normal thermostat thats not designed for the car but actually for another car, not a custom designed item or imported by him in the country , he visits his local motorfactors and sells it not stating what it is

does that mean if you bought stuff for 20 times what it really costs cause its not been told that its ok

would you like to pay 5 quid for a bottle of water that the man in the shop pours out of a tap but sticks in a evian plus labled bottle yet dont tell ya

as far as the people buying it goes thats down to ignorance but being honest hes using peoples ignorance to gain cash, just like if ya gran bought you a fake rolex watch for 300 quid for ya birthday

but the postage fooks me off the most but not baised at christian but based on the cunt who charged me 3 times and stuck it in 1 box, i payed 3 times so i want the fooker sent in 3 seperate boxes or a fucking refund on the 2

How can I be using peoples ignorance to gain cash? I am putting up an honest auction. I have already said that if one sells for next to fook all then thats life. I list it for 99p starting price and Ł5.00 postage because as long as it gets a couple of bids then I break even and the only person I have ripped off is Ebay because it only cost me 30p to list it.

Lets keep it in perspective. I am charging Ł5.00 postage. Not Ł15. So if I am making money out of the postage, then I am making about Ł2. I really do send it First Class Signed For and I really do use a Brand New Jiffy Bag. Also, on my life I am paying more than Ł3.00 for the Thermostat. My source is top quality. FACT.

Regarding the fitment issue. If you go to Ford or any other Factor and ask for an 82° Thermostat for an RS Turbo they won't be able to help you. You need to know what Thermostat it is. Its OK for us, we are members of a large community where someone knows the answers, but, WAKE UP, the Ford scene streches MUCH further and wider than Passionford. Surprising isn't it?!! Those people that can't get the answers, but know that their RS Turbo is overheating obviously value this Thermostat at the amount that are entering as their bid. I didn't force them.

Thats the whole point of Ebay, people bid on stuff according to what its worth to them.

If you were selling a car on Ebay that was worth no more than Ł500 and someone bid Ł1500 for it, are you telling me that you would mail them and tell them that its only worth Ł500? Like Fook.

So, Ginge, don't use you other bad Ebay experiences against me, because there are alot of far worse Ebay'ers out there and some are members of this site I dont doubt.

stu its strange as you dont charge extra to post parcels

christian ya took my post wrong but its easy to see why, mine was based on bad experience but the only part I find iffy but that shouldnt worry you in the slightest as its got fook all to do woth me so it wasnt a personal dig was the fact you stated it was not the ill fitting ford ones being sold as it is still a ford part, you are selling it and its discription of the what it can be used for is true but its not actually what it is hence why i posted

as for the postage, stop earning off the postage !!!!, that really gets to me due to my bad experiences, what ever happened to treat people how you would like to be treated

PS; forgot to add save the whale
