Benfits of a lightened flywheel??

Ive had a lightened flywheel in my car since i had the latest engine built. I bought it without really knowing much about what effect it would have. Its meant to make the car rev easier i think and make it perform like youve lost a persons worth of weight.
How true is that and is there any downsides to having a lightened flywheel?

Doesnt adversely effect engine breaking frog, in fact if anything it will help.
The downsides are its harder to maintain a steady idle at low rpm, and the revs can tail off quickly during gear changes which can be annoying, but this happens far less on lower compression motors anyway.

Chip what do you mean by the revs tailing off on gearchange? Do you mean they drop qucker than normal. I spose that would make sense cause there isnt as much rotational force to keep them going. Mines high comp so it will be more prone to it i spose.

Sunil, to me high comp = 13:1, so i suspect we may have a difference in opinion on wether yours is 
Yes i mean the revs dropping when you dip the clutch.
Frog, yeah less momentum to cancel out from the engine means more of the resistance from compression can go into slowing the car down.

It makes the car crap to launch, ive gone back to standard & the car is much better to drive. Performance ive seen no difference to be honest, but accleration times will improve cos it now comes off the line.

I dont think what applies to your 200+mph beast applies to my little fiesta though really. i only managed 135 down brunters
