Default driving styles to suit a particluar stage of head!!!

....i had no idea that the head on my S1 was a BIG VALVE head, stage whatever with polished this, and ported that....even Gemma (Seve@RSX's wife said "fookin ell, their big ones (with a wink and a smile ")

well, i had no idea, thought it was standard

so, this is all now put back to perfect and ready to go back on the engine....

again, i have an uprated cam but not 100% sure which one....

so, question is...

1) is there a particluar cam that would really suit this head??!?

2) whats the best way to drive (revs, etc, etc) to get the best out of the head?!?!?

hopefully this is not all bollocks that has come out of my mouth but it wouldn't be the first time if it was........

keith decide what boost ya want then ill tell ya the cam ya want

a cvh 36 is a nice big bhp cam

a cvh 34 is a good low down power band but tbh if ya just want 200bhp then sell ya head and get a standard head and BRAND NEW standard cam and ya will perfer the lower powerband is gives as ya not into reving ya car are ya

actulayy scrap that as ya going low comp now aint ya

for 220bhp then go for cvh34 or maybe a cvh35 and then have fun, if ya wanna learn how to drive ya car then get a cvh36 and rev the bolloxs out of it and buy double valve springs too

1: I would expect this depends on the specifics of the head!

2: I would expect this depends on the specifics of the head... along what spec the rest of your engine is built to!

keith im not sayting its fook all but DIY is gonna be alot cheeper !!!!

not getting the 1.8 pully and drilled the block proper will be fook all in cost !!!, the cps holder is 3 quid from fords

you get a efi flywheel and efi loom from a orion,xr3i 90 spec or xr2i and pin swop 3 pins to convert it, buy a 3 bar mapsensor ( there 60 quid these days ) and then ya just need a addaptor plate as im not gonan be happy dremeling ya head for some reason

then buy the ofab ecu for 100 quid and then get it live mapped by grove and ya sorted

infact its ever cooler a idea as ya can use the top half of ya inlet and the bottom half of a efi inlet and then nobodys the wiser, then ya sell on the other junk to regain a bit of ya money (50 quid for a s1 metering head for example) and then ya also make a doubloe saving as the cars gonna be much much better on fuel too

dan payed for people to do it and as a result he got a job done that he wasnt fully capable of doing but he also went for cossie management too with is abit more involved too

it sounds alot harder than what it actually it, i would drill the block ( gotta be acurate and spot on btw) and fit the holder and flywheel just incase as the engine is already out
\
seriously i will drill the block for ya, ive done it already and still got me stencil for it too

no you gimp

its a hole on the end of the lug to allow the sensor to see the flywheel, buy a efi flywheel ( its the same as a s2 flywheel but has lugs for the cps sensor to read) and aill drill the block and if ya dont go efi ya aint lost anything

if ya do then ya save 100 quid in pullys and the hassle of sourcing the stuff

ya are kididng aint ya

its sooooo fooking easy mate

infact max's flat mate can even do it i recon as hes alot better on cars than me

think of the good thing about efi, cheeper petrol, acurate fuling, witha 36 to 1 flywheel ya can fit aftermarket management like omex or emerald too and have a ultra bling management

i personally at this stage would do it just cause ya can

ironicly pon ive drilled a block and also dremeled a head and the only problem the guy had with his car the following week was he fucked his gearbox

guess that means it worked then

infact i started that and finished it in a week, hows you track car build going on

things are easy IF ya know what ya doing, just cause ya dont understand how to do it dont mean it dont work

Ginge - you put a post up last week asking what something was that you could see through an inlet port, and didn't realise it was a valve!

I'm not knocking your drilling ability, but if you fuck it up, are you gonna lay out for a new block?

Since you're also so concerned, my track car build is going very well thanks. The difference is that I like my stuff done properly, so it takes a lot longer and costs a lot more.

but if you fuck it up, are you gonna lay out for a new block?
pon seriously how can ya say that drilling the block would make it totally fooked up

its a hole on a part of the block that has no use

the only problem i could cause it drilling it off the correct point and that would cause the car to missfire, hence why i take my time doing it, i never offered to fit his pistons to his rods as thats a proper job and also notice ive sugested he gets a efi addaptor plate as that job if done wrong can fook the flow of the engine

also about my askign what the VALVE GUIDE was it was cause it was at the wriong angle and that was caused by the flash, i know what a fooking valve guide is, im not totally stupid with things and i find CVHG's easier to work on and also find i understand efi better than mfi hence why i sugested him doing that as fault finding is easier and also if he gains a air leak he dont neeed a tow home

i seriosly thing ive gotta stop taking the piss about all thwe work i do as people do belive i just hit and hope and not research what i do

oh and if i did fook it up ( which i wont as its not like its a first attempt and i got my first attempt SPOT ON too i would obviously sort the damage as im not a person top fuck somink and then change me number

keith seriously if ya are worried then dont do it that way but dont let another persons fear and lack of knowlage put you off as hes nerv attepmted it to see how easy it was

infact christan said cutting though a cvh block was like a knife though butter and said that even I ( myself not christian) sould have no problems, he also used a tol ya would not belive and 163mph kind of shows it works, infact im suprised he dont go on about the 1.8 dont work as hes fastest 1.6cvh has that on it makming it far superiour

pon seriously i do tak the piss but when have ya EVER seen my work cause a fook up of any kind and notice i do post when i make mistakes ect

ive not blown my engine up and the xr2 with the bodged conversion has a slight part of surge ( hoooge turbo for the valve and cam timing) but its only managed to fookmthe gearbox and that was due to raggin the arse off it with no oil

pon things that cost 4million quid dont mean its the best either !!!

again ill use christian as a example, he was using skimmed pistons for ages and done some really good times, shows its just the thought and planing and not the money lobbed at it

before

middle

getting close but i blunted the drill bit

after

i also done this but i dont recomend it at all , this was my engine i was selling and if i fooked it i never sold it ,thats 400 quid down the drain, how big is ya bollox indead

all sorted and running ( i confess i forgot to tighted the sump plug when doing the oil change , that was the only issue that i forgot to solve, i also HANDMADE a inlet gasket to overcome the efi inlet to thje new addapted head too

but it worked and i was suprised but my mates had faith in me

Whatever mate - no offence, but maybe you should be a bit more choosy what you post about your own mechanical skills, as judging only from what I've read of your work on this board, I wouldn't let you change my interior light bulb
