Default FAO STU: FUEL INJECTED BIKES

I vaguely remember that you re-mapped an Aprillia RSV mille no?

If so: was there lot's of room for improvement? A noticable difference?

I'm asking because I'm thinking about buying a fuelinjected bike and if I do I'd like to fit different cans and filter and have it re-mapped but you when I take it over to England for a trip...

So basicly is it worth it you reckon?

The bike is a Honda Varadero if you know 'em, same engine as the VTR1000

I remember saying that without a dyno the effort involved was just too much with regards to datalogging etc etc .

Your best bet would be to buy the cans and air filter and buy a Power Commander 3 which you can either download a map for your bike or have a custom map done

I had that done on the Senna and got an extra 9 HP and 7lbft and but the bonus was having such a smoother power delivery as having the bike mapped ironed out the fluffy fuelling in the lower rev range

Apparently Ahmed can map the 916.

Rainbird said it was faster than the works bike! (SP model!)

Errr.....the works bike will have a shitload more power than a re-mapped 916! Infact: most 600's have the same power as 916

Don't like 'em though! I tend to be too tall to be comfortable on them and I don't like their lack of torque

I've always loved moto-x bikes: very short gearing and lots of poke!
I've had several racingbikes and on all of them I've fitted a smaller front sprocket 'coz I want instant response!
Rode my mate's GSXR600 the other day and it did my head in! I'm too far over the bars because of my height and you have to cane the tits of it to get anywhere fast and then it still doesn't really give you THAT feeling of acceleration if you know what I mean...?

SP model isnt a works bike

Deano you is so dumb

Yes we all know this ....what i said was at a test track with a 916 SP and a works bike the "mapped" SP (runs P8) was as quick or quicker than the works bike on the day.

Show me the evidence where a fookin 140HP+ WSB bike was slower than a remapped SP

I find my cbr600 F2 has much, much more torque (or certainly a feeling of more torque - never had it dyno'd) than my older carb'd cbr6. Lose a tooth on the front cog and 50mph in 6th will be surprisingly responsive. Cane it thru the gears and 172mph @ 14.5krpm pops up way too easy, its almost boring...
My mate took it for a rip and said it would slaughter his 916 (which I rate BTW). Fuel injected modern bike engines make a puny 600 feel like a 1000.
Think I would soil myself (front AND back) if I rode the new 'blade

Power commander is the way to go as far as ECU upgrades are concerned. Very flexible.

Ima, what you said was that according to ringbird the re-mapped version was faster than the works (SP) model!

So what you're saying now is not quite the same is it?
apart from that is crap anyways as the WSB bike will ride rings around a standard or remapped version if only for the brakes and suspension so PLEASE stop taking the piss 'coz my sides are splitting

newts....err....I've ridden fuelinjected 600's....and 1000's.....and all and everyhting in between and torque isn't something I'd associate with the 600's
With regards to dropping a cog: I did that on a ZXR750 and still was bored to tears...ride a twin and you'll know what I mean

My point was that 600 4pots are not as gutless down the rev range as they used to be. Obviously not going to have the grunt of a 1000cc V-twin, but that'll run out of puff @ 11krpm while the 4pot is still trying to escape your grip, but you already know that, eh
The Varadero is deafening with race cans, and fast for an upright Have you looked for a power commander for it?

Fair enough Newts, you're right about that!

The Varadero is ace because you can ride it like a moto-x bike around town, it's very good in corners for such a big heavy and softly sprung thing and grunt out of corners is great for pissing of the supersport brigade

I need something more practical as all of my three bikes are toys and utterly useless at things like touring/commuting/fueleconomy/2-up abillity/reliabillity/comfort and so on
