Poly ones for me, as Nissan ones cost more than Super Pro poly ones for my car

Not Nismo ones as a full set of them is well over a grand IIRC

Id be interested to know the difference in feel between NEW std ones and new polys.

Deffo a big imporvment swapping old std for new polys tho

I've already got a few 909 bushes, just thought hmmmm

Fit same as standard, and a little stiffer.

cant be bad.

Was just worried on the price, or if there still available.

Some standard bushes are just plain useless though... specifically cossie outer TCA ones - the standard ones are like plasticine even when brand new! u should have to change them every year for MOT

Hmmm, tough one... I used to just use proper OE ford ones, and change them regularly, but then I went to Powerflex up front.

The car is harsher, no doubt at all, but I get better turn in, and more stability under HARD braking.

Overall, I'd say they are worthwhile - they do alter the handling, and I'd say for the better. I would question folk who say 'oh they transform the car' though. Without doubt they change the handling, but the actual improvement is slight.

On the back, I've replaced std ford sapphire items with T34 Escort jobs - theyre a meatier bush, so hopefully it will be tighter but without it being too harsh

Hope this helps dude

Neil.

HAd comparison of new Ford ones at front with Powerflex. The difference is like two different suspension types. On OEM ones it was pathetic, with powerflex feels quite decent, not as tight as modern cars but much better. Now I have rose joint's on the TCA and it's even better. You can actually feel the road texture on your steering.

That is one of the most valid points I've ever seen posted.

Too many times you see people wrote that polybushes "transformed" their car as Neil puts it.

To be honest, I don't doubt it, as the old ones were probably completely knackered.

I like the idea of Polys, as there's that whole fit and forget factor, but I'd still change some of them for new Ford.

Rear trailing arm bushes.

This point has been done loads of times, but the bottom line is that the standard Ford part in the trailing arm are not a "bush", but a spherical bearing.

I think Pon has a valid point.

I mean did the polybush manufacturer spend 10's of thousands in R&D on the bushes? Or simply just copy the design from fords and just make it from harder polyurethene?

909 bushes would have been developed and tested before being produced.

same as original ford bushes.

Bushes are probably the last thing that people change on a car, and get so much abuse its unreal.

90% of rubber bushes would have perished and lost it strength after about 7-8 yrs let alone 15yrs

All right. This be the exeption because of them not being bushes. But what else and why?

By the way I havent detected that rear steering efect that I was warned off - I got rear fullly polybushed too now. Still will be going for one of the Zoo bling rear setups one day.

Outer TCA bushes on Cossies have lost they strengh when they were designed. About 2cm movement of the wheel front<->rear on new bushes. When you kick front wheel hard on parked car it will move backwards.

Azrael,

I had every bush changed on my old beam for poly ones, and I did notice a steer from the rear - but that's just what I do to girls with pigtails

Yep, it's problem with any Sierra. Very unstable under heavy braking due to front wheels moving. Polybushes on the ARB transofrm the handling. And I know what I am talking about as I had them all replaced for new ones in the first place.

I don't fully get the joke, but this maybe due to my lack of language skills.

Anyway I don't notice it so either it isn't that bad, or my driving is so bad. I hope it isn't the latter.

one of the benefits of Polyurethane over rubber, is that Poly doesn't suffer the same compression memory as rubber, so holds it's condition and position much better. Some OE bushes are way too soft and compliant to start with, never mind when they've been in there a while.
'909' bushes, assuming they are made of similar materials to the older '905' Rallye Sport bushes, are made of rubber material, just a harder grade, so start off better than OE but degrade faster than Polys will..

Absolutely totally agree!!!
The standard Sierra outer TCA bush is complete shite by design, and allows LOADS too much movement.

GGR advised me to use poly to replace all front bushes except top mounts which they said use Grp N 909 ones and at the rear Grp N 909 diff mount and Grp N 909 donuts. They also advised only to use gen Ford rear bearings rather than polybushing rear. Car handling was greatly improved and not too harsh/noisy.
