Default valve collet fell down oilway! (i think there called that!)

hey was trying to change me valve stem seals with my own homemade tool, however one half of an inlet valve collet (the bit that holds spring down and valve up, may be called summink differant!) fell down an oilway

will it be ok?!?

it was the oilway above and just to the left of no4's inlet valve, the one about 10mm wide

i heard it make a noise at the bottom, was that it falling into the sump? if so shud it be ok, as the pick-up pipe has that gauze covering it

think about all the cossies etc that are running about with different lenghts of the dip stick(which have snapped off)floating around in the sump with no probs so UNLESS your very unlucky woundn't worry until have to take sump off

ps you could always drain the oil out and see if it comes out 1st time, and also try using a magnet to drag the collet out the sump plug hole

The collets are magnetic so will simply attach themselves to the sump

Did it on the girlfriends fiesta and it was fine for about 10k till it got pinched!!

How bad is the feeling when you realise where it's going?

I wouldnt worry about it

Neil.

just get a magnetic sump plug, and it should stick to it ,in time,i don't think collets are magnetic.

As long as you fitted another collet to the valve so there is a pair of collets back on the valve then it won't be too much of a issue.

If you are only running one collet, expect the engine to drop a valve into the cylinder and destroy your engine.

What Daz said. Dont worry about the one in your sump. If you're removing the sump anyway, take it out, but otherwise...
