Default Do I need a new Rad???

Since putting my bigger Turbo and intercooler on the car seems to run hotter that normal. It is a radtec front mount intercooler. Should I look into upgrading to an alloy radiator or should I get get my one reconned?

Cheers
Dave

i am using a large front mount with a standard rad. it does run hotter, i have fitted a fan switch to the interior and i am using 2 kenlowes. i have also cut out my front bumper. it is always best to make sure the rad is flowing nicely. I always have used wakefield radiators for recoring, flow checking etc.

What do they normally charge? Never had one done before. Uprating the fan might be the next step forward. I have the fan on which came with the intercooler. Seems to do the job but I'm not over confident with it.

Normally about 60 quid for a recore, well worth it if it is playing on ya mind. And it will look brand new

I have it mounted on the front of the intercooler. I wouldn't mind putting a fan inbetween the rad and intercooler but don't want to chop the bumper up. Any suggestions?

thats where mine is and it just aint good enuff! ...

taken the water cooling off my turbo so hopeing that will make some diff

i also want it to go between cooler and rad! only thing i can think of is bending the brackets and fitting spacers to the maximum of the freont bumper and moving rad back...but careful not to hit the actuartor....might just take it somewhere and pay them to do it!

I'm gonna take a trip to the scrappers at the weekend and see if I can spot anything that will do the job. The S2 turbo unit doesn't have the fins for cooling like the series 1 so it will need the water supply to help keep it cool. I know people run the turbo's without the water supply but I'd of thought that would do damage in the long run. Might be wrong though. I have the water supply on but my turbo is still glowing red hot after a run to the extent where it had melted the oil return pipe to the sump. Have a leaking turbo to manifold gasket though I'm tinking this could be one of the problems. With the turbo having to spin up more to compensate for the leak.

Cheers
