Default xr3i to rs replica

I am currently saving to get a mint fiesta rs turbo but I am going to get an xr3i to turn into an rs replica to run around in for now! I wanted to know what all is involved in removing the side rubbing strip, is there filling etc to do? and the black plastic in between the front and rear side windows, on the rs its colour coded what do I need to do? any help greatly appreciated!!!!

Agreed if you're getting a Mk3 leave it as it is!

More likely you're gonna get a Mk4 tho, so you just really need the arches and side skirts, wheels, colour coded spoiler and to take the black bits off around the windows and down the centre pillars.

Interior wise front recaros to match whatever pattern you got in [they only did 2 types for the mk4 escort] and you're set

Buy one already done tho, its cheaper or you might as well just get an RS turbo to start with

It's not plastic.... its just matt black paint, and it will come off if you put enough t-cut on it... my old red xr3i had been polished with t-cut a few too many times by a previous owner and the black had almost disappeared in some places. Trust me... body-colour paint is underneath!

Plastic side-strips will peel off if you heat them up [hairdryer or hot water for starters] and then apply t-cut or polish to remove any remaining stickiness....

Other things you'll need for an RST-rep are:
- colour-coded rear spoiler
- rs bodykit
- bonnet with vents
- recaro front seats
- rst alloy wheels

Other than those things, its hard to distinguish a rep from a real one unless you are really looking at mechanical details.

Another detail to remember though, that RST all had BLACK bumper inserts - not red as on white, grey and black xr3is... only the red ones had black bumper inserts.... although I've seen a few cars with either green or blue bumper inserts - which looked kinda cheesy, but different.... and on black cars, chrome inserts from any Escort Ghia can look like a nice finishing touch - especially if you add a late spec Escort badge from a mk5/6!

hello. mine is a rep at the moment. saving for the zvh conversion. My matt black bits were sprayed but the paint is starting to chip off so i would go with the t-cut idea if possible fella!
