The end of my rs500 shell :(

couple of pictures of it before the angle grinder etc met it
all the parts will be living on in a 1.6 gl shell instead:

Photos to follow in about 6 weeks or so when its all back together!
Shame, cause she was a lovely looking motor, really solid shell.
Oh well, soon to be reborn anyway.
New shell is one of the mintest 3 door sierra shells i have ever clapped eyes upon, got one rusty rear arch (luckily the undamaged side of the rs500 shell so we can cut that out) and a couple of really tiny scabby bits in the engine bay (now welded up)
So at the end of it, she should be a right nice motor again.
And yellow

shame about the wiper arm tho - it looks well out of touch
Yeah the wiper doesnt work any more.
Can anyone host a video of it?
It still drives lovely believe it or not, after a quick bit of welding to the steering rack lol
Ive got a video of its last ever journey but nowhere to host it.

Can you convert from .mov to .mpg as well, or everyone will need to download a player for it?
Ive got another video too, of my being very careful driving John's saph
but that one needs shortening to just the first dozen seconds or so.

surely that's easier than stripping the whole front half

If i wanted to do it the easy way, we would have just jigged the shell straight and stuck a new quarter and rear panel on it, but i dont want metal that has been bent and straightened, i would sooner have an utterly mint perfectly straight GL shell that has never been welded before i got hold of it.
This way the car will be spot on, and i couldnt give a toss its now an A reg instead, im not a logbook snob.
To be honest, at the time i couldnt have given less of a toss about the car if i had tried, as was far more worried about my mate who had possible severe head injuries, car is just a bit of metal at the end of the day, and easily fixed, but decent friends are hard to find

sorry to say it was actually me that did that.
Lost it on a bit of road I know so well, a bit of road I do everyday , and have done for the last 5 years. On the brakes, and the arse just stepped out and i never caught it. The next thing I remember walking up in an ambulance. Went sideways, Ns front wing clipped a sign post spun it 270 degrees and straight back into a mud bank. I would expect I was still doing 50/60ish went it went into the bank.
as for people asking about having the shell, as chip said, it was repairable Untill I cut the roof off it, 1/4 off it etc etc, anything that made it cosworth has now gone and is on the new car.
Should be untraceable on a private plate, I even cut the pop and out sunroof on the GL out, and cut and stitched in the tilt and slide roof.
Still, yellow is a crap colour if you ask me, it should be back to the original moonstone...
Rich
PS, like it, vauxhall masterfit overalls working on a ford..... uhhhhh
