Ive got a digital tape one with USB so it plugs straight into the pc no probs.
Cheap and cheerful that does the job perfectly well

Sony DCR-TRV245E, think you can pick em up for under 300 quid now

Ideally you want one that uses DV tapes. The video is digitally stored on to tape. Most camcorders (if not all) that use this technology include a firewire or USB out connection which allows you to capture the video on to your pc.

Your PC will need a firewire or USB (2.0) connection depending on the camcorder you buy.

You will only need a TV card if your camcorder has no such connection and you are then forced to use the normal TV out connections.

Dont forget you'll need some video editing software for your pc too!

I'm selling a Panasonic Camcorder, paid Ł500 for it last year.

I used it once and most of the gear that come with it is still unopened in the box. Quite sure it does all of the above. Going to check now and will get back to you

Just double check what type of PC connection it uses. Your PC probably wont have firewire unless it is very new!

Yup there are a few ways to get hold of the software.

U'll probably get an evaluation version of something with the camcorder.

Most camcorders use firewire. I think Sonys are the only ones that use USB.

hello.

DV tapes are great.

usb is only used for mpeg and jpeg transfer but full video is transfered via firewire.

regards

you will probably get a trial version of some video editing software with it.

windows movie maker will do you for basic stuff and it's free but better progs like pinnacale studio or adobe premiere can be downloaded
