Default fuel cut-off

i hav just recently bought a s2 turbo, i had a few small problems but nothing major...

then the fuel pump died. i changed all the conections on the wires and it ran again, i put it down to shite ford 'OE' equipment.

but for the last 2 weeks mostly when getting her out the garage in the morning but recently whilst driving the fuel pump cuts out (?) and the needle on the fuel gauge drops of the clock and it wont re-start this is becoming very annoyinbg when driving cos its bastard heavy to push...

anyway ha ha ha

there is a feckin mass of speed-bumps sprouting upp allover the place where im from and the only thing i can think of is the car is lowered 60mm and i really hav to crawl over the bumps sometimes hitting the deck on the bumps and i was thinkin there is a cut off switch in the back end for the fuel pump.... so av been told could it be this?

after about 10/20 mins of general wiggling of wires and kicking of the fuel pump it works,

is the fuel pump on its way out
or is it the float in the tank.. because when it first did it the fuel gauge didnt move. and now it does

and now it just wont prime on start up-or dies while driving

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED PEOPLE AS THIS IS KILLIN ME, AND I NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG cos if its a big job i dnt wana get ripped !!!

sounds like dodgy wiring to me, there is no cut-off at the back of the car as far as i know, there is a fuel pump relay, under the dash on the drivers side pink one, try changing this aswell and check the wire going to it, if the needle drops on the fuel gauge though, looks to me as its the wiring to the fuel pump and gauge though

The fact that the fuel gauge is goin off aswell sounds like a loose earth connection, my mates fiesta had the same problem, try tightening the earths in the boot for your lights etc.

i'v changed the fuel pump relay as the first time the pump wouldn't work it was of the road for 4 days while i tried to fix it

as i thought it was fucked... just of a m8 tho so i guess im better of buying a new one !

i was told all RS-turbo's had the cut-off switch on them in case of accidents 'n' shit me pals saff's got 1 he races it and when it launches and the back drops and hits the floor the fuel pump cuts out due to the switch ???

u lad's know more than me so improbably wrong !

saffs will have one in the boot, my xr4x4 had one in the boot, s2's dont, worth getting a new relay, and checking the wires

It has to be a wiring issue, the clue is the gauge having an issue at the same time.

An interia switch (i.e. cut off) if fitted would require intervention if this were the issue and would not be triggered by going over a speed bump.
