Oh what a night...!
Out in the turbo the other night and i wasnt aware that i was being followed by the undercover traffic police for about 10 miles. The 'apparently' saw me braking hard comming into a roundabout and decided to follow me(Obviously to try and do me for speeding
)but even as i stayed well within the speed limits they pulled me anyway and when they did they noticed my front number plate and fined me £30
Fair play i suppose,but..
When i went back to my car the thing wouldnt start so had to wait for ages down some dodgy back road untill my mate came and saved me
Battery was totally dead,so what could it be?
When i start ther car the volts go up to 13v and when the fan's cut in it takes it down to about 10.5-11v
And when at low rev's the battery light is on faintly?
So chap's.Battery or alternator?Bering in mind ive started the car from a flat battery 3 times in a row..
Cheers

Take the regulator/brushes out. Might be worn out. A new regulator/bruhes is not expensive. Also check the blue wire is conected properly to the generator and your starter motor. Your battery light seem to function, but remeber if the bulb blown it has the same effect as not connecting the blue wire to the generator.

If the cars running at 13 volts i'd replace the battery. The battery on its own should throw out 12.5 volts when charged. If you charge the battery and it puts out less than 12 volts its propbably dropped a cell.
Hope this helps

Yep stoo sounds like alternator , also check the blue wire that comes off it this gave me serious problems , and changed alternator when there was no need to
, found out mines was jointed near starter motor and was corroded so re-done joint and was okk , just a thought , does sound like alternator , my prob was battery light was staying on when engine was off

I had a similar prob ,battery light stayed on faintly on the dash ,then out one night and the car died, turned out to be the loom from the alternator to the starter ,you can still buy it from Ford about £25 (common fault)
Cheers,
It might be something like that as ive just had to take the starter off when changing the box...snapped off one of the conections too.I'll check the wiring, funny feeling the blue wire may have come slightly loose
Thanks fella's!
