Default Deep growl at 3.7K RPM…

Just received my Esc Cos back from a full nut & bolt resto.. and I can honestly say I wish my first post was showing off my new car to the community and not seeking answers to a frightful issue!

As the title suggests, my car is making a deep growl at around 3,700 rpm that can almost be turned on and off with the accelerator playing around at that rpm.

The car is booked in with a reputable company to have the issue investigated but, unfortunately it still means a degree of disassembling the engine.

Does anybody have any expertise with this or a similar issue ?

cheers guys

What spec is the engine? What engine mounts are you using?

Spec wise:-
330 bhp from Power Engineering (presuming they are no longer around).
- 3 bar maf sensor
- Green injectors
- uprated fuel pump and rail
- Dump valve

Engine rebuilt on new stock internals. Polished bores. Injectors tested and refurbed.

Im assuming stock engine mounts.

The exhaust valves are not genuine, not quite sure about the inlets. Need a clearer view.
Are all those parts on concrete?

parts are on an old cut piece of carpet.

Ill update the thread when I get the engine stripped.

Im booked in with Norris Motorsport so I’m guessing I don’t need a second opinion. Not sure anywhere else is as qualified tbh

Hi mate, i have a rwd sierra sapphire cosworth and have a bad vibration around 65mph+. I've had the wheels balanced and it's still there. I tried shaking the drive shafts and the driver side has very slight play up and down around 1mm on the diff side. Could this be a wasted diff ?

Thanks

I appreciate the reply mate, I've been told it's had a new doughnut on the diff side but im taking the prop out tomorrow to check the gearbox side however when I was giving it a good check yesterday I realised the centre mount has around 3/4mm play. Do you think this could cause it and should there be any play in the centre mount ?

yes mate, driveshafts due to be rebuilt today and new centre bearing to go in also. I'm hoping it was just the play in the centre mount that was causing it to vibrate as the bearing had torn away from the rubber
