Default Free power upgrade!

I took my 2wd Saff out for a run today near Southampton and the weather was perfect, very cold but sunny and dry with no salty shit on the roads. I have said it before but my car is with 450bhp quite a quick motor but today it felt like it suddenly had an extra power boost which is without doubt down to the very cold weather.!!! It is not my imagination as I reckon you get an extra 10 to 15 bhp at least compared to the warmer weather. This is why I keep my car tax, mot and insurance up to date all year. You can still enjoy your car in Winter but you have to pick your days out carefully!!

I’ve experienced that before it really pulls much stronger with the dense cold air but It wouldn’t be worth keeping mine available all year round here in Scotland.
It must be at least 15hp other wise I don’t think it would be noticeable.

I remember my RST used to go off the clock on a dense foggy morning down the bypass

'Heavy air' ie cold and damp has always been known to improve performance, talk to any tractor driver and they will tell you their tractors go better first thing in the mornings and late at night in the damp/cold air. Is this why intercoolers were not invented to try and mimic these conditions during the daytime, and then there is the use of water injection on engines, especially truck racing diesel engines!

Nothing turns up the boost quite like cold dense air when you’re out for a brap on a dry winters day

Hi Charlie, the cold air with the set up I have on my Saff does without doubt make it go even harder than normal on a really cold day!! Love it !!!
