E = Model variant, seems like this is not from Sierra
E = Date of Manufacture - Year, seems like this is not from Sierra
E = Date of Manufacture - Month, depends what year car is manufactured
87262 = Vehicle Sequnce Number

digit 10,
A is Escort, B is for Sierra and Mondeo, G for a Granada, E for a Capri and F for a Fiesta.
digit 11,
is just repitition from digit 5 of the what model of car it is

For the Sierra digits 5 & 11 shall be 5,B 11,B Saloon 3 door or 5,B 11,F Sierra 4 door saloon

Quick update found one 3 door, with digit 5 and 11 E




Can someone tell what this means?

 

The most Important thing would be, which engine the car has, because the Design is completely XR4i, but the car has 2.0 Pinto EFi also in the Papers but the owner is telling 100%, the car had 2.8 V6 and its an original XR4i.. ..

 

Also in your picture Engine code is NE. Sierra Cosworth shall have N5.

Found this from the internet for NE:

N stands for 2 ltr

E stands for High Compression+increased performance.

Not sure what kind of engine it`s.

Drive cond box you have A, which means that car is LEFT-hand drive.

Found one XR4 from the internet with next VIN:

1984 Ford Sierra XR4I

VIN: WF0BXXGBBBDP(hide last digits)

It has digits 5 and 11 B. But as posted earlier found also 3 door Sierra with digit 5 and 11 E. I hope someone answer what E stands in the digits 5 and 11.
I hope also that someone in here, who has real XR4, can check presented VIN and the engine code.

I'm not sure can you use that code straight, as Cosworth engine type is YB, but in the plate it's named N5.
So NE In the plate, could mean different engine type.
