My 2005 fiesta is leaking from the input shaft, it’s ib5 gearbox. I have the gearbox removed from vehicle and the seal refuses to come out to be replaced. Can I remove the bellhousing on its own to get the input shaft seal out? I don’t want to have to pull the whole transmission apart if I can avoid it

 

Unfortunatley, you have to strip the whole box to get that seal out.

 

Hi GVK. Thanks for your reply. I managed to get the input shaft seal out today without having to take apart the gearbox luckily. The seal was extremely tight and took some careful force to remove it but I got the seal out without doing any damage thankfully

 

Hope its ok when you put it all back in
