Default Cosworth won't rev

Hi I have a 89 sapphire that won't rev past 5k it's misfires then drops the revs a bit then goes again up to 5k same again, normal driving is fine any help appreciated thanks

cheers for the reply the car has been laid up for 9 years, I re gapped the plugs today and I think it has got worse, it coughs and splutters under normal driving, they r new plugs they wer @ .68 and I re gapped them to .8 I think I will go back to .7

you need to do a full recommission on the car , clean out the fuel tank clear lines, and stick a new timing belt on ., plugs. , clean all connections, check your voltage at the pump etc .

way too easy to fook an engine up

I agree with you James, the chances of the car running right after being laid up for 9 years without doing all the usual checks etc is pretty near zero!

Its definitely not a turn key situation.

I'd be cleaning checking and replacing as much as possible prior to any thoughts of driving it.
