I’m trying to start my 2.8 Sierra, it’s been standing for years, I’ve replaced fuel lines, pump, accumulator, I’m getting fuel up to the extra injector but nothing is coming out of any of the other fuel lines when they have been cracked open, does the metering unit need dismantling and cleaning ? If so is there any tips, thanks in advance

Hi, can`t help you with the question, but I can help you to avoid that your car will be burner. God shake remove those zip ties from every fuel line parts!
Those plastic fuel pipes does`t cost a lot to be replaced. Heating the pipe end with hot air blower can also tight the fitment.

they are just marking where they go, they will be removed when it’s back together
I think I’ve found the non starting issue the plunger was seized solid, freed it up and now just waiting for repair kit so I can build it back up, hopefully it’s done the trick and I can start the turd, lol
Yeah if i had of seen this before i would of said to check that.. like the xr4i etc when these get left for years and years there is a bit that suffers on them... the cold start system maybe jammed aswell or not working but you will find that when u start it up etc..Were you going to put the E5 petrol in it ?

I just need to get it started so I can move the bloody thing lol, yes I will check that also
I paid a little over Ł100 for 4 a couple of months back. Aware you need a few more but Ł25-40 a piece is the going rate.
People think they go on forever, and unfortunately even brand new ones can have shite spray patterns - but chances are if your system is full of varnish and crud, it will make a significant improvement both to performance/behavior but also mpg
Ok, are they very expensive, are they the long pencil type ones?
Yes, the long mechanical ones. Just like the Escort Turbo, the XR3i MFI and many more MFI cars like the first Golf GTIs had. But buy the right ones, 2,8i injectors might be different from the CVH MFI ones.

That's the point. MFI injectors suffer from wear. The spray pattern will become bad, usually at about 100.000 km (~65k miles) and more. This will result in becoming impossible to set up the CO correctly, some cylinders over- or underfuelling, injectors leaking after turning the engine off and therefore bad starting habits (not running on all cylinders and not starting when the engine is hot) and washing off the oil film on the cylinder walls.
I bought a set of injectors for less than 24 € each a few weeks ago. Prices in the UK might be a little bit higher, but just as Haz said, it's not THAT expensive but really worth the money. Just look for the correct Bosch fuel part no. and buy them at an aftermarket (online) dealer. Not at Ford.
