Default Wiper Issue

Having issues with my wipers, intermittent mode is on fast with no intervals and the manual speeds are working fine until i turn the wipers off and they stop anywhere on the screen but the rest position.
Anyone go any ideas?
I have now tried a new switch(used) and doin exactly the same.

The parking is usually controlled by the motor itself.

Just a few pointers hear.....im sure you have the motor with 2 wiring plugs on....the one with 3 wires your see one wire is "Brown" ..thats earth..your see the terminal has a short bracket on it to Bolt on the caseing....make sure buy testing that Brown wire is Earth [ neg - ] ....the other plug is 2 pin...bullet connector... the motor under the brown cover on motor..2 screw fixing as i remember...you will see 2 slip rings...with contacts running on them...these are the Parking controls..and the armature "locking" when the motor is switched off...ie wipers return to lower screen..any problem with this WILL cause your problem.. one other thing to check...with the ignition on...wiper switch must be off...one of the 5 wires will be live + pos...im sure it will be, as im sure it was on the same Fuse...but check.. from ex Auto Sparks ...now 80 retired ...hope of help. Just to add.....very early standard Escorts [ non RS ] had a different motor [ non Delay wiper feature ] All RS models do have......please note the Wiper Delay relay on RS Turbo serious 1 / & 2s is wired in line with the self Parking system, so a fault on the relay will cause your problem as well, relay must be in place in the relay Box to complete the circuit. to sum up "slip rings" in motor due to wear......Delay relay fault... will effect the Parking side....but not the 2 speeds of motors..sorry should have added that above [ age again ! ]......Peter

Just an update, had a good look yesterday, all seemed in order other than build up of grease/dirt on the connectors which i cleaned up, now all working as should be.
Thanks for help.
