Best Fuel pressure regulator
I am also looking to replace the fuel pressure regulator on my 1990 4x4 Cosworth. Thought I would start my own thread so it didn't get lost at the bottom of the previous one. Keen on the Original look, and have so far found them available from Anembo Engineering and Graeme Goode Racing. Any thoughts on the best one to get or experiences that they work as expected. The Anembo one seems to have the advantage of a replaceable 3.5bar BOSCH Regulator. Any thoughts?

Hi David,
GGR seem to be popular but I'm in the midlands area so they are handy for people to go to.
They look very similar if not the same apart from the bottom barb.
I think both have the circlip on the top too allow replacement of the
diaphragm.
Will they both ship to you?

I think they would both ship to NZ but I have ordered the Anembo one as (a

they had a shipping price - although not cheap, whereas GGR under delivery said " POA We will be in touch with price of freight charge." Unclear if this would be before or after I committed to purchasing. As you say, they are probably very similar anyway. Thanks for your reply.

Thats good then, you could of been waiting a while for a response and missed the window for delivery this year.
Keep in touch and lets see how quick it lands with.
Might be worth looking at changing the lower pipe off the regulater too while your at it to be safe, is it a plastic type with rubber sleeve?
all the best.

I was looking at that curly cord type pipe, wondering how it comes off. As you say has a rubber cover over it but the inner seems to have no hose clip or anything.
I'm assuming its like a heat shrunk type fitting from new, as you say there are no clips on it.
Has the fuel been altered in NZ?
You've probably seen that here in the UK its got a higher ethanol rating (E10) now and its eating older fuel lines and in some cases new hoses aren't lasting very long as its eroding the linings.
I'll be getting some Gates Barricade when I get around to changing it.
Personally Ive always used super unleaded in the Sierra.

I am interested in this as I have been running on an E10 mix for a number of years and haven't as yet had any problems. (car does very little mileage these days) I am assuming this is the cause of the fires I have seen (on facebook) where the fuel has leaked on to the distributor.
In answer to your question, our fuel here is generally 91 or 95 octane (RON) and some years ago one brand brought out a 98 octane but it has quite a price loading on top of 95. These are all regular fuel with no Ethanol. I have been under the impression for many years (can't remember why) that my car is tuned (currently stage 1 chip) for 97 octane. Another company (GULL) came onto the market, and they sell 91 (normal) and 98 (10% Ethanol). Although dearer than 95, it is not as expensive as the standard 98 octane fuel, and as said, I have been running on it for a number of years. What should I be looking for to tell if it has deteriorated any of my fuel lines. Or is it a case of at some time they just start leaking. Interestingly, quite recently, another company has entered the market, that has 91, 95 and 100 RON, and definitely says on the website that the 100 contains NO Ethanol.

I think whats happening ref the amount of engine bay fires is the diaphragm is so old its becoming frail and degraded allowing fuel to pass and escape or is the pressure to much and poping the small link hose?
Please correct me if thats wrong and I wonder if the introduction of higher levels of ethanol has sped up the failure of the internals of the fpr.
But have any 4x4's had issues??

I thought when you mentioned the 'small link hose' you must be talking 2wd. As you mention the 4x4 might not have as many issues with being mounted directly to the fuel rail. I must say I am a bit worried about using the E10 from now on.
qed296 - DHL attempted delivery of the fuel pressure regulator at my house today but unfortunately I was at work and the gates were shut. Will be re-delivered tomorrow.
Ordered 19th Nov, but Shipment picked up Nov 25 2022 03:12 pm· BIRMINGHAM-GBR, United Kingdom and Delivery attempted but no response at Consignee address Nov 30 2022 02:18 pm· AUCKLAND-NZL, New Zealand. Not bad, 5 days delivered from the other side of the world.David

Morning David,
Thats brilliant service considering the issues we are having here with Royal Mail (strike action).
It probably went via couriers/independent postal services but that is impressive.
I've ordered things off ebay before from China and its been a similar service, then ordered items
within the Uk and waited 2 weeks. (Could also be the senders are not that quick to post out)
All the best 👍

I changed my FPR recently and couldn’t get the pipe off. There is a kind of barb on the connector preventing the hose from coming off so I had to cut it off and replaced the pig tail pipe with a new fuel line from Halfords. It’s only the file return so don’t think the pig tail is actually necessary and I just replaced with a straight fuel pipe.
