Xr3i early efi won’t idle
Hi, I am new to xr3i’s and need some advice/ anyone who can carry out the work for me...
i have recently purchased a g plate 3i cabriolet with the early type Webber iscv system, I have found out these can be troublesome!
so far the car has had new injectors, coolant temp sensor ( back of inlet manifold) plugs, leads, coil pack, iscv and TPS but the car refuses to idle when warm, starts great from cold and will tick over fine but after 10 or 15 mins the idle drops off and engine cuts out, will restart ok but won’t tick over
the car gets down the road just fine but has a little hesitation at very light constant throttle
is there a procedure for setting the idle, albeit the idle speed cannot be turned up with my type of inlet manifold?!
or even better, is anybody in the Essex or Wiltshire areas that would be willing to take a look? Paying job of course!
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

I don't think it's the ISCV. As you describe it, it's running fine when cold.
First of all I'd check for air leaks. Small ones might not cause any trouble when the engine is cold as there's enough fuel. But when the engine is warmed up it might stop running because of less fuel.
A broken MAF-sensor might also caus similar problems.
Does your car have a catalyst? In Germany all EFIs had one, (early) cars in the UK also came without. A blocked catalyst MIGHT cause such problems, but then it probably also won't run fine when cold.
There's a lot more reasons, but you'll need proper equipment to check. (fuel pressure, CO etc.)

if it has an idle control valve like the saffs when it gets warm disconect the wireing plug from it see if it makes a difference that also does cold start if its got one it might be jammed there prone for fuking up
