Fiesta MK5 (02-08) A/C issue - cooling fan spins constantly?
Hi,
I have a 2008 Fiesta 1.4 16v Climate, which is the last of the 2002-2008 shape model - not sure if that's a MK5 or MK6, as it's facelifted.
When the Air Con is switched on, no matter how much I seem to drive it around, the main radiator/condenser fan just keeps whirring away. My model doesn't have the fancy auto-climate control of flashier models, just the basic a/c and re-circulation switches. So, even if it's quite cool outside and inside, the fan never stops while the a/c is switched in, but stops soon after turning off the a/c. I know that's meant to happen initially, to get the system cooled down, but surely the fan should stop once the vehicle is moving at some speed - and so cooling the condenser.
I've had it properly re-gassed a couple of times now (once because of a leak, now fixed), the system seems pretty cold inside and the compressor seems to cycle pretty-much normally, but I'm left wondering if the fan behaviour is normal or not. I don't know anyone else with a comparable model to check against.
Anyone have a similar model to compare to?
Cheers.

No. Apparently, it's all normal behaviour - according to a number of other people I have asked. I think it's only the more sophisticated Ford A/C systems (electronically controlled/regulated) which switch the rad/condenser fan off when the system doesn't need the extra cooling.
Otherwise, it runs 24/7 while the A/C is switched on.
