brake imbalance across the rear beam
hi not sure if this is 2nd time of putting this matter on the site so i will ask again ,new to forum i have a 2003 ford fiesta with a st150 rear disc conversion it has now failed the mot twice on brake imbalance i have replaced discs and pads as well as brake hoses i have also stripped the rear calipers down cleaned them up fitted new seals as well as making sure there move freely but it still failed from what i saw the near side is around 50% less efficient to the off side is there a brake balance valve or is there something else that could restrict the pressure going to the near side if any one could help it would greatly received
foot brake ? handbrake ? other ?
How are they testing ? If they're giving numbers...show the entire print sheet with the results.
And when the brakes are applied....does it feel like one wheel does have more stopping force than the other yourself ?
Who fitted the brakes ?

it is foot brake and it is tested on the mot brake tester I do not have the figures I was watching the mot being carried out and I fitted the brakes and I could not fill any difference when breaking I hope this helps if there is any more information you need just ask and I will try to answer when
Doesn't really help at all.
Get the actual printout from the test. If they conducted a proper test, surely they gave you the results of that test ?
And I meant to raise the car off the ground and apply the brakes to, see if it feels both sides are braking similar relative to the force on the pedal and force of you rotating each wheel
Or you could go for a drive and apply the brakes for a short period, stop and with a thermal temperature gun check the temperature of each disc to get an idea of whether each corner is working evenly.
Or just take the car to a competent mechanic.

I used to be a competent mechanic I have had the car up in the air and tested the brake pedal after I had bleed them and the pedal felt good I tested with and with out the engine running I would love to take my car out and test the brakes but it has no mot on it and I will taking the car to different garage as the other one is proving useless to not be helpful at all I had ask for the brake test results and was told there could not give me one as soon as ihave the test print out from the 2nd garage I will let you know what there are thank you for your reply
many thanks
many thanks
The brakes may be not bedded in yet if you have just replaced discs and pads. I would book an mot and then take a long route there to bed them in well, if you get pulled you are allowed to drive to a pre-booked mot
Jack back end up and turn wheels with a bar with someone pressing on the brake pedal slightly and feel if one side is weaker than the other. Suspect it's a bad caliper or brake hose collapsing inside.
