Default Sapphire Values

What are the going rates for 2wd Sapphire cosworths these days? want an idea for insurance purposes, my car for example is 1989 2wd, 4 owners loads of history modified 380bhp etc.
Bought the car in 2012 its certainly worth more now.

Yea get that value up, the way i look at it is if the car was written off or stolen id want enough off the insurance to go out and buy another of similar condition. Just knowing what value is a realistic value to be agreed at.

I insured by 4wd Saph for Ł15k but I think is too low. Haven’t seen one south of Ł20k for a while and seems to be a lot around the 25 to 30k mark.

I have a 1990 2wd Saff, done loads of mods to it, runs 450 bhp, rust free, original paint etc , it has an agreed value fully comp insurance of Ł27000. May seem a lot but if it was stolen / written off the first problem I would have would be finding a rust free one and then doing all the mods to it if I could find the parts! In reality the whole of the Ł27k would go and then more on top!!

Your spot on in what your saying, replacing these cars now would be a nightmare.

It's mad how the prices of saphs have shot up. It's not a pure enthusiasts game no more It's a rich man's game and they buy them for investments and not to use.

A lad I know bought a Ereg 2wd saph with 45k genuine miles and was a 2 owner car for 24k.

Hi Glenn,it is not only Sapphire Cosworth's prices that have shot up , all classic Fords are fetching top money. I never bought mine as an investment but I think my agreed value is about right. There are fewer and fewer 2wd Saffs around and I think prices will continue to rise. If you have'nt done it yet get yours insured with a realistic agreed value or you could find yourself out of pocket if the worst did happen.

I have a 1988 Gloss Black 2WD Sapphire cosworth which I've owned for 14 years now. Over the years I've done loads of mods and upgrades and piled loads of money in to improving the way it drives and goes.

Ive got mine on a agreed value of Ł30k with my insurance company but I still don't think I could build it again for that price if anything happened to it.

Had to prove what had been done and back it up with invoices for the agreed value but I wouldn't want to not have it agreed now as I could never replace it.

Last year I had an agreed value of 18k. I know mines had a bit of welding but I think it'd worth more. I also bought my saph to use and enjoy and I will continue enjoying it too.
