Default AAs cutting edge technology....

.... That fixes 8 out of 10 cars at the roadside.....
Does anyone know what their cutting edge technology that they're so proud of is because I've called them out 5 times over the last 18 months for work vans and they've not managed to fix the fucking thing once...

I'd say their biggest asset would hopefully be a good database of known problems and fixes. Of course any ability to fix very much depends on the problem. Most genuine actual faults would be impossible to fix roadside without parts.
Most of their callouts they refer to are probably just idiots running out of fuel, flat tyres etc

But really...either your work needs to buy better vans, or less abusive drivers lol

My vans one of the old ones... A 150000 mile 63 plate vauxhall combo..... Its at that age and mileage when lots of different things have started to go wrong in a short space of time .... Clutch... Battery... Alternator.... Now the turbo or sensor...and the garage we use is a mate of the director who don't service them.... I put it iin for a service I get it back a week later with the same black sludge oil in it
I get a new van today.... This one will probably go to the scrappy now.

I did 730k on my 1.7 cdti Combo. It's a great van. Other than basic servicing, for most part it really did need very very little.

Just stopped using it as stopped doing that sort of work

730 ks a good innings..... The combo was a good van to drive... Nippy and firm suspension.
Ive just had a 17 plate transit custom delivered..... In all my years in the building trade I've never had a transit so after 15 years of being on here I finally belong...

Strangely I had wanted to take it to 999,999....but the damn thing reset to zero after 699,999 !!

Just bought another van the same as it to use instead. Have both sitting here now lol. The big miles one is a little rusty in places as it had some crash repair shortly after I got it and a wanker drove into the back of me. But the repair place just did an average job, despite me insisting they seal the fuck out of it as I will be keeping it.
They didn't...and I should have dealt with it earlier.

Although it's still a great van, just hasn't moved in 2 years now as don't do courier stuff anymore

Lots of modern vans are shit though, all based off the same shitty French platform or engines. I've a Berlingo/Partner through work now and it really is truly and utterly shite.
Big outside, small inside, no room for the driver, seat doesn't go back worth a fuck, anything you set on the double passenger seat falls into a mysterious underworld never to be found again.
There are 2 half assed drinks holders on the floor in the middle....like WTF ? Anything you try to set there is unreachable, and will fall and spill anyway.
Door pockets are miniscule and hard to reach and the roof tray will barely hold an A4 sheet !
And it's one of the most gutless things I've driven in the last 30 years !

the only positives I can think of.....is I don't pay for it, it has aircon, cruise control.....not really a lot else.

Second day with the transit.... Went to go home after a 12 hour shift and the fucking batteries flat.... Had to strip the battery, some wires and find a couple of right thread bolts out of our site tower light in the pitch black to bolt the battery to the transit and it started....bolted the live to the jump lead bracket and the negative to a bolt from an engine part housing....
Looks liked to 2 lights in the back were permanently on....how do they turn off?
There's no switches on them.... I've had to remove the fittings and bulbs

I had a Partner, they're bloody everywhere, but I never liked it.
Have a VW Caddy now, and I like it apart from it needs more power and it runs out of suspension travel really fast on bad bumps.

Maybe our dad's were right, "they don't make 'em like they used to...."
