Default Fuel pressure regulator Ford Escort 1.4 1997

Hi. I'm hoping the problems I'm having with lumpiness, dreadful idling and high fuel consumption on my 'N' reg Escort 1.4 'Encore' are all related to my FPR. But I'm really struggling to match the fitted part with anything on the new or secondhand market (see photos). The part number is 94SF-9C968AA (960113) and it's rated 2.7 bar. It's also marked 'Made in USA'. From a technical point of view, is there anything similar fitted to Fords or other marques that will fit and do the same job? Thanks, Nic

I think I'm probably suffering two problems in parallel. I had simply assumed the FPR was causing the poor fuel consumption as well. I can temporarily stop the stuttering (that usually kicks in about 3 to 4 miles into a journey) and dreadful idling by releasing the pressure from the fuel system by undoing the fuel cap, but the consumption I clearly need to investigate separately. Thanks for the info.

You have a problem with the fuel tank ventilation system. Normally you wouldn't have to undo the fuel cap under any circumstance.
In my opinion 3 or 4 miles is probably not enough to build up pressure, but it could be tank is sucked vacuum and the air inlet is blocked.

You want ford finis 6920735, looks to be shared with the 1.6, shouldn't be hard to source aftermarket as its not going to be anything special

Thanks again, I'll check the tank end. It'll probably end up being something simple! Cheers, Nic

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out. Just worried the bolt spacing might not be right as mine certainly doesn't match anything I've seen online.
