Default Ford car keys

Hi guys, I have just had a new Ford Eco sport 2020. I'm in Wales so garages and dealerships are still closed, however I was allowed to
pick up my car, tax and insure it.
Now, there is the usual key that opens and closes and ignition. But the only other one that came with it is a single blade. When my wife used that to get in the car the alarm went off. Is there a way of using that without the alarm going off or do I need to buy another proper key fob.

That spare probably won't have the chip in it which is why it's setting the alarm off. You should have got 2 remote fobs with the car, normally ford give you two remote fobs with a new car.

I just rang the dealer up and they said it only comes with one fob and one blade. The blade can open the door then the alarm goes off and the only way to stop it id to put the blade in the ignition. I said that's no good to me, then she said it would be £250 for another fob. God, I'll have to think about that.

Blimey that's ridiculous! I've never heard of a new car just coming with one fob before. Even our 18 plate Nissan micra came with 2 fobs when it was new. The amount fords cost to buy as well. Our local auto locksmith can programme and supply a fob for £125 incl vat for most cars.
