Default 6 month MOT extension

My focus’ MOT runs out near the end of July, I was wondering if the 6 month mot extension is still in place? On the DVLA website it still shows as expiring in July so don’t want pulled over by the fuzz if I drive beyond that.

I think they leave it quite late to update the new expiry dates on the DVLA website. They didn't add the 6 month extension onto my car until about a week before it was due to run out!

From what I've read on other sites the extension appears either on the last day or during the week before.
One of mine is due at the beginning of July, but I intend to get it renewed just before if possible.

Strangely enough I've seen 4 cars in the last 3 weeks in the middle of the road with collapsed front suspension... Probably a result of the mot extension and cheapskate owners.

I fixed up a Audi TT that was out of mot and got it mot’d about 3-4 weeks ago without issue.

Your MOT date will be updated around 7 days before it was originally due according to the DVLA website. I've been wondering about this too though, as mine runs out in mid-July. With garages now open, I expect they will end the scheme soon, but are probably just leaving it to allow garages to catch up a bit. I'll probably just get mine booked in and have it done as normal to be honest.

An mot extension might help people not earning any wages just now but it won't help the garage trade trying to recover from the shut down...

Mine's due in July, I usually get it done in June so should have plenty of time to get it booked in somewhere. Needs a damn good service too.

Ive just checked mine, its been extended to December instead of end of this month.
It will still be in for MOT as its piece of mind as things could be missed

I had mine MOT'd as its usually done end of May. It failed in a CV boot so got it done. Could have been driving an MOT failure for 6 months when you are supposed to keep your car in a safe road worthly condition.

Getting the MOT done this Friday at the normal time it should be done. The thing is with the extension period it can of course help people with money problems at the moment but what will the situation be if a major safety related problem gets missed before the new MOT gets done?
