Default 200+mph Audi RS6 driver caught speeding.

What do people think will happen to the Audi RS6 driver caught doing over 200mph on the motorway recently who filmed himself doing it? He will have had his 5 minutes of fame but at what cost?

Has he been caught now then ? Last I heard they were trying to track down who it was.
Not sure how easy that is, finding who posted the video is quite easy but finding who filmed not so easy.

having been on the wrong side of the dock more than most in my youth its not entirely about what you did.....its also a consideration of what might have happened.....you might have wiped out a load of nuns from the local church if they were crossing the road.....they weren't but they might have been

There didn't look to be any cameras on the M.23, but there may have been.
However there will have been on the roads to or from, unless the driver planned the journey really well.

The mileage on the speedo is almost visible, the image would probably clean up.,, 1st unique distinguishing feature.
There's a part image of the drivers left hand,,, 2nd unique distinguishing feature.

It's possible that at least one of the vehicles, at least 5, they passed would have had dash cams especially the lorry, 34secs.
The lorry will be easy to find, there aren't many companies who produce large precast concrete sections.
The graphics on the extended body van at 41 secs would be reasonably easy to identify.
It won't need much more, once found for a successful procecution.

They say “extras” but I wonder what it
needs for 200 MPH?

That is too fast to trigger a Gatso, or probably modern detectors as well.

I might have done 160ish in the past on the motorway but I wouldn't be silly enough to film it for YouTube 😂

It seems incredible in this day and age that anyone could possibly be so stupid to do such a thing. It really must take a special kind of stupid to video that and post it online !!

Wouldn't surprise if they jail him, despite not actually harming anyone.

Meanwhile thousands causing crashes and actually harming and injuring, will be totally ignored by the law. I'm certainly not endorsing what he did, but it also needs to be put into that context. But it is utterly stupid holding a car for so long at high speeds on a public road. If it had of been quick and just a blast to and from the speed in a few seconds on an empty road, it wouldn't have been so bad. But doing it and holding it for ages for miles is retarded

See this is the problem with the law.

Those who actually cause harm, destruction and injury in a vehicle by causing a crash, often get totally ignored by the law. Whereas go a few mph over a speed limit and do none of the above....and they hunt you down for fines. Seems utterly mental way of going about things. Those who have proven themselves actually incompetent and dangerous need dealt with more severely than those who have not.

I'd far rather someone speed past me at 80mph and not hit me, than someone drive into me at 70mph.

Agree with what Stevie is saying.

It’s definitely stupid to film it but I’m sure all of us have done silly speeds on almost empty roads at some point.

I totally agree but I do get the reasoning behind it from the laws side.....should something go wrong at 70 you may have a reasonable chance of minor injuries ...if something goes wrong at 200 the carnage would be for more devastating and will probably end up including others who were innocent passers by and nothing to do with any incident...
the fault might not be entirely with the speeding motorist , depending on what the other drivers have done but the blame will be put entirely at their feet.
its a bit different down south were most of your motorways are 3 or 4 lanes wide so there might be 2 empty lanes between you and other traffic but up here its mostly dual carriageways so if your speeding past someone in the outside lane and they misjudge your approaching speed and pull out theres no where to go.....
I do have the odd mad moments and have impromptu races but ive often just gave up when the other person has started taking silly risks with dangerous manoeuvres

There is no reasoning how the law currently deals with road safety matters. They are totally illogical and against what the stats say.

The primary target should be those who have proven themselves dangerous and incompetent by actually crashing, causing injury or harm.

Potentially yes that car could have done all of those. But they didnt. But you can bet they're pumping massive resources into finding that person, and putting minimal resources into finding those who have done all 3, including car thieves who are always out to cause death and destruction.

One car speeding....how many cars in that same area were stolen say in that same day, or week ? Are we seeing any campaigns to try and find those thieves ?

To affirm what your saying Steve, earlier I was making good progress shall we say, not being a total dick but getting on.

We came to a small island which is tight with two lanes going round it, you can get two decent size cars round it if both are aware what’s going on.

in front are a pair of small cars, one Peugeot 107 size and a corsa equivalent, the 107 sized car was on the inside and forced the corsa sized car up the curb on the outside of the island 🤣🤣

Yep...speed is almost never the problem, it's almost always blind incompetent morons. And it is truly horrifying that the authorities refuse to wake up to this or acknowledge it and do something about it.

But it's easier to naively hold a speed camera and throw fines at people causing no harm.

I like "using" my Saff but you have to pick the time and place. What you cannot predict is what other drivers may do and the chances of avoiding a crash if you are doing silly speeds mixed in with other traffic is pretty slim. The scariest moment I had years ago was when 4 of us all in quick cars were on our way on the motorway to Santa -Pod. Yes we were pushing on and I was in the overtaking lane when a car in the middle lane suddenly pulled over into my lane. How I managed to slow down enough not to hit him I don't know but it scared the shit out of me!!! He obviously was'nt expecting a car to be going as fast as I was to be approaching him from behind! The guy doing over 200mph in his Audi over quite a few miles was very lucky in my opinion to get through it without any incidents.

The focus is definitely too much on speeding and not enough on dangerous driving, but this bloke is a monumental pillock. It's not just the fact he did it, it's the fact he was holding his phone at the same time. What a nonce. He better be praying that he doesn't get found. If he does, the courts will 100% make an example of him.

That's what I was thinking, I expected it to be tuned but from the video I'd say it's stock with just the speed limiter removed

Impressive that he managed to hit 200 on a public road..... Will standard do over 200?

I might have been into the 160s yesterday racing a big bike on the dual carriageway.... I do like an impromptu to ing and froing good race now and again with a flash of the lights and a wave and you go your seperate ways ..... But then again I might not.... It might alll have been a dream.... Certainly isn't any YouTube footage to incriminate myself

Someone I know used to regularly max his cossie 20’odd years ago, no idea how people manage it these days! He even had an indicated 140 on an A road racing an R1. They’ve put a roundabout there now and made it a 40 limit.

Does anyone else find these days you feel like a criminal for even overtaking someone on an A or B road? Years ago it was totally the norm but these days people seem to get annoyed and flash you.

I went for a drive and was over taking traffic, I was stuck behind this one car for a bit, I wasn’t tailgating just sitting back waiting, come to over take and no issues, but I get caught in a red light further up.

The car I’ve just over taken pull up behind and some young bint in the passenger seat is giving it all the “well done you” waving and just trying to be funny, I thought it was a bit special of her considering I hadn’t technically done anything to upset her or the fella driving.

the best bit was, I managed to just get through the green light before it turned red again due to traffic and she then sat at the red light for another cycle, I have to admit I laughed and flipped the bird 🤣🤣

id like to think she felt embarrassed by her actions but no doubt couldn’t see the irony of any of it 🤣

People now don't know how to overtake, they just can't handle it and if you try to over take they have a breakdown.

It’s a strange one but I guess the ‘safe driving’ campaigns and all the national limits that are now 40/50’s have made everyone proper little policemen.

Used to be the norm 25 years ago on way home from work, 3 of us that went the same way making nice progress along a NSL road overtaking all the doddering farts doing 40!

Now people don’t even know what to do when they’re stuck behind a tractor or other slow moving vehicle. And what really annoys me there is when a train of women have no intentions of overtaking are all bunched up so you can’t overtake and slip in even if you wanted to do the lot of them one by one. I’d imagine an attempt like that would have them dialling 999 these days.

its the health and safety world we live in now....people just sit behind slow vehicles ...not sure if its fear of overtaking , but then they get irate when you over take them as if they think we should all sit in an orderly convoy

old folk are the worse for it ...they often sit at 35 in a 50 then start gesturing and flashing lights because you've overtaken.
